Celebrities: sometimes I just have to shake my head...

Im certainly no fan of Obama (or Madonna), but this seemed like a really weird "endorsement".

here's the article:

"Today we have an odd "real" celebrity endorsement: at her D.C. stop on her MDNA Tour, Madonna told fans on Monday night to vote for "the Black Muslim in the White House" who's "fighting for gay rights."

So yeah. That's odd, right? Thanks to her terrible delivery, it's hard to tell whether Madonna is being sarcastic and mocking people who think Obama is a Muslim ( ) or if Madonna actually believes President Obama is a Muslim ( ). . "That means there is hope in this country," she said. Add in the mega church-like cheering, and her other reasons to vote for Obama (that Obama is fighting for gay rights)—and there are three things are apparent in this video: (1) Madonna is endorsing Obama. (2) If Madonna is wrong, no one is going to tell Madonna she's wrong. (3) History class with Madonna would probably be really great."

I would guess she was being sarcastic, but who knows...?

And who thought we'd see the day when so many Protestants out in the middle of the country will vote for a Mormon and a Catholic over the only ticket with a Protestant in the race, either because he's black or they think he's a Muslim...?

  • When you are a 90 yr old pop star who hasn't been relevant for 25 years sometimes you just have to say some wild shit to get your old saggy dancing ass back out there.

Obama is as Protestant, as Pelosi is Catholic.
  • What does religion have to do with it?

Its hardly interesting that the 2 reasons you think a Protestant wouldn't vote for another Protestant is due to their (apparently inherent, according to you) racism and/or religious prejudice.

    Thats a fresh argument.

Couldn't be his failed policies or lack of leadership. Gotta be his skin color.

I could be wrong, but isn't he the same color as when he was elected President by these racists in 2008?

    Are these racist-amnesiacs?

    Not sure...

You'll have to call Madonna and ask her. I don't have her number, but maybe Ed could get it from Sean Penn when he gets back from his Dictator tour...

By 1950's definitions perhaps. All I can say is my mom is a devout Evangelical, she goes to a majority black church in Boston, she does volunteer charity work in the inner city, she's employed as a nurse for a health care for the homeless program, she's been on health care missions to Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Haiti and Liberia, and she's going to be canvassing in New Hampshire for Obama.

    great.

Tell your Mom thanks- for doing her part to destroy the country.

Down south we need to be drunk before we launch into an all-night-momma-thon.

No, she sounds like a wonderful human being, with no economic understanding at all. Whose vote, in my opinion, will further the downfall of this great nation.

Its a big boy world, so why don't you go get dressed?

Please don't destroy your own integrity. It's not constructive to this, or any other discussion. Insults are just boring to me. So if you're going for a cheap thrill, I'd rather you avoid that, for your sake, and for the good of this forum.

FattyFatCat wrote:I was 6 feet from rail, right in front of Mike. Fying solo, and got there at 2:15- PJ started about 9:40- LONG wait with no beer or food, but for the best view in 20 years of shows- definitely worth it!

MIKE: Thank you for the amazing performance- never been able to interact w one of the guys during a show like that- pointing, waving, smiling back- the guitar pics were raining down all night!!!!! I got 2, dude next to me got 4! Being able to see Mikes fingers up close: priceless. He absolutely shredded it.

The whole band was on point, and the scenery was beautiful- may I suggest a tour of only beach shows!?!

Highlight: I waited around and was fortunate to get the 1st page of Ed's lyric sheet for Parachutes. (Ed had 3 sheets w/ lyrics on it and let them flutter down to the stage as he finished singing the words on each one.) Printed lyrics, but handwritten notes and markings. I would like to post a pic, but I have know idea how.

Also appreciated that Deluna was donating some funds to USO and Wounded Warrior- nice that Ed mentioned this great organization- and encouraged people to help in any way they can.

During Ledbetter, a guy was making his way through the crowd w/ an American flag. He brushed past my shoulder and just to the right of me (b/w Mike and Ed about 3 feet off rail). As he crossed in front of me, I saw Mike look up from his guitar and spot the flag- a few moments later, he broke into the Star Spangled Banner- the cameras focused on the flag, and displayed it on the giant screens. Not sure if Mike was already planning on playing it, but it sure looked impromptu. Either way, it was one of those moments that we, as PJ fans, live for. Just a big stupid smile on my face ever since. :P

Thanks to Pearl Jam and all who made the show possible!

And here i thought you had warmed to Ed, :(
  • ya.... You brought your mom in on this with her resume for the lifetime achievement award- not me.

All I did was say that I disagree, and Obama is ruining the economy in this country. If she's committed to helping him, fine. Thats called freedom.

But I also have the freedom to say I think she is mistaken.

Anyways, the thread is about Lourde's mom and her opinion of Obama, not anyone else's.

Can we please go back to making fun of Madonna :P

Honestly, I don't put any stock into her opinions; I'm amazed so many do.
