  • Around 10 i'd say, i take an Spanking over Punishment any day at that age, the trick is not to let the parent know this!

Yeah at the point my mom or dad tried to smack me and i laughed a little i think they realized they would need to become more creative.

The gutter-y part of my mind came up with some great stuff after "he paddled her harder than"

I was spanked only once by my father when I was a kid. It wasn't done strongly, but it did the trick. I never wanted to feel that disappointment from him ever again.

Now, a teenager? At that age, there are more constructive (not to mention age-appropriate) methods of discipline, otherwise it seems to me that something's amiss at home.

But for those parents who do believe in corporal punishment, shouldn't they administer it themselves rather than have the school do it?

My response was not gutter-y...I was making a dignified historical reference! :?

Parents need to raise their kids, and not rely on schools to whip their kids into shape!

    No, not gutter-y!

    I went there :P

Perhaps this is a side issue, but I wonder if the spankee learned that it's not OK to let others copy your work...

On the news last night, there were 2 teenager girls who had been spanked at school and whose moms went to the school board meeting to complain about it. One mom was interviewed afterward and said that she had previously given permission for her daughter to receive corporal punishment but that she was now withdrawing it.

I still find the whole thing weird.

Because they want to hand the responsibility off to someone else

this girl was spanked cause she allowed a classmate copy her homework. wtf?! how does that even warrant any corporal punishment of any kind?

    That's what I mean. It's just bizarre.

Maybe the parent thought corporal punishment would be slapping the kid's hand with a ruler. In any case, it doesn't fit with the misbehavior and just seems wrong in so many ways.

The article stated that the mother - and student too, I think - had the option of that (and chose it) vs another day of being suspended, so while I don't think it was warranted (actually, beyond not warranted, in the form of punishment), it was chosen by them.
