    oh please... punk isnt about not getting airplay or hating radio(tho youre free to do so if you desire). its about doing what you want, when you want, any way you want to do it.

    it was disrespectful to green day to almost halve their set. they arent newbies. theyve earned their place... and theyve earned that respect. to ask them.. no TELL them to cut it short is horseshit.

    I read that their set was cut from 45 minutes to 30, instead of 25, but I can still see why they're mad. But I also read he knew about it before they even took the stage, so the whole thing also seems kind of rehearsed and an attention grab rather than an actual spontaneous outburst.

    And while I say I can see why they're mad, they also kind of set themselves up for it. The iHeartRadio Festival appears to be much more centered around pop music as opposed to rock acts, though I know there are some. If I were a rock act at that particular festival, I wouldn't be surprised if my setlist time was cut for the likes of Rhianna and Usher.

    Besides, the crowd didn't seem that into them. A few people looked liked they were having fun, the rest looked bored and confused. The rant/guitar smash got more reaction out of the crowd than Basket Case did. Maybe Mr. Armstrong was pulling an Eddie in Vancouver and was fed up with the lame crowd and the 1 minute on the prompter was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

    I'm not sure how to feel about this. I mean, they were playing a hugley commerical corporate festival which wasn't necessarily targeted at green day type music. I'm not sure what armstrong expected..

    Now, according to a statement released by the band today on their website, their set was not actually cut short.

    Here's the statement
    Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.

    Maybe it's the cynic in me, but it all seems like a publicity stunt. The old celebrity meltdown/treatment routine that just happened to coincide with the release of the new album. I'm not definitely saying that's what's going on, but I can't help but be suspicious. Especially since the story seems to be changing.
