Just got a call from Grand Rapids. I guess there is a big mix up. It seems people with 10c numbers under 140xxx are getting below average seats! works great for my friend with a 10c # in the mid 200xxx (in the 6th row), but she says there are alot of upset people. Just thought I would let you know.

I'm side stage for every show myself. Don't worry, this is too good to be anyways. I'm sure everything will be back to normal tomorrow.

Mix-up. How can they do away with seniority seating if they announced in advance that is how the tickets would be assigned? There's a term for someone who sells something by saying it's one way and then switching it to another..."bait and switch." Generally that's frowned upon by various entities such as consumer protection agencies, etc. They would get sued immediately and rightfully so. Pearl Jam can use any system they like but you can't announce a system and then get people to spend their money and give them something different.
seniority seating has been around in one form or another for several years now.
ahh, well, your right...it will still be a kick ass show..
Thanks for the boots BTW...they sound great...show 2 took up 1.6 gigs on my ipod!!!

"can you amp up the drama a bit?," AJ Soprano
"and onward goes this thing of ours."
look at the pics from the Canadian tour last year...THE SAME people up front EVERY show...I saw them there every night I went

good for all the high number members.
nothing wrong with a little new blood up front.
Seniority seating began with the 2005 tour (US/Canada). Block seating ended with the '03 tour.

Uh, the Canadian tour was six months ago. If the band was upset about it being the same people upfront every night, then why didn't they just change the policy for this tour?
So you think they announced the seniority system, waited to get into the tour, and then said now let's change it even though it violates the tems under which we sold our fans seats?
I don't think they would treat their fans like that and it would also completely violate any sort of ethical way of doing business.
The block seating was still seniority based.
65xxx and lower = best seats
66xxx-100xxx = 2nd best
101xxx-150xxx = 3rd best
and so on......
I agree with you there...I think they should have changed it before this tour...but, I'm not sure what people are saying about courts and breaking laws apply in this instance because they are a private membership club, and not an institution or business...I'm also pretty sure that technically, you are buying the tickets from the venue or ticketmaster, and ten club just handles the allocation; they are not actually selling you the tickets...I'm also sure that someone would have looked into the possiblity of court action against such a move if this was intentional

the blocks were based on seniority. Hence, the same people may have gotten in line early for the lowest-numbered block ticket window and as a result, been in thefront row every night.
True, but with my mediocre number (212xxx), showing up early for the line meant I'd get the better seats in my block. I got 9th row center in New Orleans and 6th row center in Little Rock. I guarantee you that wouldn't be the case now (well unless the Grand Rapids thing happens again); the Canadian shows proved that. The way the tix are now it's predetermined, your tix are in an envelope with your name on it, not handed off the top of a stack.

Say what? Not a business? Seriously, you should not talk about stuff you know nothing about. The Ten Club is an LLC and is very much a business that must comply with the laws of the states that it does business in.
There are consumer protection laws to protect against items being sold on promised terms and then having those terms not complied with. If you look at the 10C ticketing page, it even says "TERMS AND CONDITIONS" and says by participating in the ticket sale you are agreeing to the terms. One of those terms is the seniority process, which is very explicitly spelled out.
By having those terms and conditions, the business is telling you how they are conducting the sale. You agree to those terms by participating and they agree in return to provide the product as promised.
And yes, I am a lawyer. I'm also an entertainment industry professional. This is almost certainly a mistake and nothing more.
I will defer to you, but what separates them as a business from a private club??...we pay membership fees, as someone does at a golf club...a golf club is considered a private club...even though they sell items, I always considered them a club more so than a business, I know the distinction can be minute
and by the way, don't talk down to me...I have over 8 years of university under my belt, and I'm still not done

the 10 club is a business....they sell merch to anyone, and they are far from being a privtae club......any schmoe with $25 can join. We are paying for services.
So, trying to differentiate between a business and a club is a moot point.
Didn't Blotto from "Animal House" also have 8 years of university under his belt too!
