The rage is rampant amongst them Muslim people and they can't help it....

The image of the two Muslim couples are beautiful....just taking a moment to be together in love...also the intensity in which that guy in the second photo looks into her eyes is priceless.

    What's weird about it?

Is there anyone out there that doesn't already think that there are muslim people out in the world living very "normal" lives just like there are jews and christians, etc?

Just seems weird. Were then any articles showing priests out in the world doing good deeds, etc when the news of child abuse hit?

Just seems really weird to me...that's all.

I think the article just simply wanted to point out that Muslims in general have other images out other than constant outright rage towards Americans. I don't see absolutely anything wrong with that at all.

I think there are a lot, at least a lot of Americans, who have no idea that Muslims live normal lives. I know that it's the agenda of a lot of conservative Christians to push an anti-Muslim agenda any chance they get.

Well, I think the smug passive aggressive nature of the article is not good, but who really cares I guess. Just seemed like a really odd article to write.

I think your "a lot" is way off. I bet there are the same number of muslims that have images of american christians drinking the blood of muslims in their heads.

I guess I would have found the article more enlightening had it taken a broad approach, but I know that the author is simply trying to shock people (with his smug attitude) and not really interested in informing.

Yeah. And on the other thread, it seemed like most folks were not making sweeping statements about all Muslims...which is why I found this link somewhat biased.

Double standards have become the norm.

dimitris got it right - "good and bad people are everywhere,no matter nationality,race..etc.."

    Let's remove the blinders.

I don't recall any but it would have also been a good idea. With all the news media on both sides trying to fire people up with controversy and often paint groups with a single brush, it's a good idea to find "grounding" moments that bring us back to reality. I often feel like the extremes on both sides have imprisoned the people on the middle ground. At least that's how it feels to me.

    Have a great one, everyone.

I think there are a lot of people who automatically think of Muslims as rampaging crazy people because those are the only images all over the media 24/7. It's all a lot of people see, and therefore it's all they know of them. The article is a reminder that the media's focus is the size of a pin head when it comes to the Muslim world. Believe it or not, when a society is fed constant images of something, they tend to embrace those images as how things are. I think you know that a lot of Americans hate Muslims and think of them as a whole to be angry and violent people who throw rocks and throw acid and school girls. The article is simply bringing attention to the fact that this is the kind of shit the media focuses on and feeds to the West, thus shaping the opinions of the audience.

As for your point about priest... Um, yeah, there are lots of images out there of them doing good deeds. Massive media coverage of the Pope with people worshiping him, too. Also, there are churches all over North American with kind priests preaching to Christians. And nuns and priests running schools. And movies and TV shows where priests are good.... Were you serious about that comment?

Christian fundamentalists make up about 20-25% of Americans. A large number within that group think that Islam, at its core, is a proponent of violence and it's mission is to overtake the "Christian message" that they think America embodies, therefore they think Islam's goal is to destroy America.

So then I was wrong, there are probably more (not the same amount)of Muslims that feel more hatred towards American and Christianity .

One in four or five Americans are Christian fundamentalists?

I tried to find some info to support this but couldn't.

Based on the definition of "fundamentalist", I would be surprised if it was over 3%-5%.

PLENTY of non-fundamentalists or Christians feel the same way about Muslims. Um, Jews? Hello? And how about all the less religious Americans. The plain old nuke 'em types. There are a fair number of them too. And let's not forget all the racists. I think you're underestimating how many Americans think of Muslims this way. I do not underestimate how many Muslims feel hateful towards Americans either (also remember that the US is not the centre of the universe though - the middle east is very, very aware of Europe as well). But so what? I don't see why the attitude of some Muslims towards Americans should affect how Americans view them in terms of reality vs media hype. All that means is that we're ALL victims of the media and frustration about the entire situation.

It would depend on you definition of fundamentalist. My general definition is that it's someone who interprets the bible literally, and then incorporates beliefs that match that literal interpretation. Many of them are harmless, but annoyingly passive aggressive. But many are also harmful.

3 in 10 Americans take the Bible literally:
