Het there jammers! I live in Torreon, Mexico in the north center of the country, its a desert- wheather city and right now there's a show of dolphins and sea lions here :(

Maybe you've seen "The Cove" Documentary were you can see how the dolphins are catched and after a selection the ones that weren't chosen are horribly slaughtered. That's why we did this petition to cancel this show in my city I hope you can sign it a share if you want. (sorry its in spanish)

Thanks a lot, keep on rockin' people.

hi ... i signed ... we are having a similar problem here in that an amusement park has been cited by many activists and public about their treatment of animals ... i can't even list the cruelty ... and the problem is that there is no real regulation as they are basically regulating themselves ... :(

This is terrible. I can't say that I am anti-zoo (though I will never go to one), because a lot of zoos do help to rehabilitate animals, but I am anti-circus, anti-using animals for entertainment. Think about what a circus is: forcing animals to perform acts to the amusement of dum-dum humans who have no regard for the welfare of the animals.

Many zoos do great work in keeping declining species extant. If not for the Bronx Zoo, the American Bison would have been extinct in the early 20th century. The National Zoo (DC) is keeping the Guam rail (a bird) from disappearing, while attempts are made to remove the brown tree snake from Guam. Zoos that belong to the AZA (American Zoological Association) work together with agencies and groups in foreign countries to return animals of threatened species back to their native habitat.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

Yes, I know. That is why I said I am not anti-zoo and that I support their rehabilitation efforts, especially when they take animals away form idiotic owners.

thing is with zoos tho ... at the end of the day - there function is to draw visitors and having gorillas in cages and pens is just saddening ... it's like anything else whether it be sandusky or lance armstrong ... just because there is good somewhere - does it overcome the bad? ...

i would say it nets out as more negative when we factor in all zoos .. but that's just my feeling ...

My animal-activist friend who is dead-set against zoos would probably give me shit for this, but I believe they serve a good purpose, moreso than the downside (as does everything). I remember many school fieldtrips to the LA Zoo - which has come a long way since then - or going there with my family, and falling in love with so many of those beautiful animals.

To be so close to a tiger, to look into the eyes of a gorilla!

Of course they're not the only means, but zoos can be educational, and instill a desire to conserve the species.

Jack Hanna is one of my heroes, and I'm pissed we didn't get a chance to visit the Columbus Zoo when we visited there.

Now, circuses? You can keep 'em.
