NOLA Woman Fatally Shoots Husband After Mistaking Him for Home Invader

Neetzan Zimmerman
A middle-aged man from New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward was shot and killed by his wife Monday morning after she mistook him for a burglar trying to break into their North Claiborne Avenue home.

Police say 57-year-old Charles Williams died from wounds sustained after he was shot with a single bullet to the chest by his 53-year-old wife.

The incident, which took place yesterday at 11 AM, did not result in any arrests or charges. However, police spokesman Garry Flot told the Times Picayune that the case will be reviewed by the Orleans Parish district attorney's office, which will determine if any charges need to be filed.

The family would not disclose any additional information concerning the events that led up to the shooting, saying they were too upset to talk to the press.

*Stand Your Ground*....This is NOT the first time this mistakenly happened nor the last in this country. Let's push for MORE guns for the good guys.

I'm all for her having the right to own a gun for sure, and protect herself,
she lives in an area of high home invasions. I wonder if she is a responsible gun owner ...
and if her husband was aware she had a gun.
Not too wise to break into your own home unannounced if so. Might want to give a yell...
    'honey I'm home' ...

one of the comments on the link mentioned why did she not yell out a warning :?
wonder if there is a story behind the story here
