Is All Those Yesterdays the best opener that has never been?

I've been thinking about this every tour for 10 years, and was heartbroken when it was scratched off the set at PJ20 with PT for a couple more TOTD tracks.

But anyway, the talk lately of openers had me thinking that I'd put it out there to see if anyone agrees.

An unplayed track either way.
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

I agree, but even though All Or None has opened once before, it definitely needs to find its way back to opening a show soon - or at least played again.

    Once

    I admit it...what's to say...yeah...
    I'll relive it...without pain...mmm...
Backstreet lover on the side of the road
I got a bomb in my temple that is gonna explode
I got a sixteen gauge buried under my clothes, I play...
Once upon a time I could control myself
Ooh, once upon a time I could lose myself, yeah...
Oh, try and mimic what's insane...ooh, yeah...
    I am in it...where do I stand?
Oh, Indian summer and I hate the heat
I got a backstreet lover on the passenger seat
I got my hand in my pocket, so determined, discreet...I pray...
Once upon a time I could control myself
Ooh, once upon a time I could lose myself, yeah, yeah...
You think I got my eyes closed
But I'm lookin' at you the whole fuckin' time...
Ooh, once upon a time I could control myself, yeah...
Once upon a time I could lose myself, yeah, yeah, yeah...
Once, upon a time I could love myself, yeah...
Once upon a time I could love you, yeah, yeah, yeah...
    Once [4x]
    Yeah...once, once...yeah, yeah...
    Yeah...yeah, yeah...yeah, yeah...oww...
  • I was just thinking yesterday how surprising it is to me that it was never an opener.

  • I love this song. I've been wanting to hear it live forever. I think it'd be a great opener.

This was scratched off at PJ20? Anyone have a pic of the setlists? Or any more info on this?
  • i prefer other songs for opener
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
  • I don't why pearl jam doesn't play this song more often?...We all know it is beautiful track....I have been to 42 pearl jam concerts....This is one track I am dying to hear....I think it would be a great opener....

Maybe the band doesn't think it is that great live?

  • I really get this feeling that it's Stone who's in the way of this. He really hates some of his songs and just refuses to let them played. From what I've seen from interviews, he seems like a guy who has really, really high musical standards for himself and the band, which is good of course--lead to a lot of good songs. But I think in retrospect he looks at a song he wrote a couple years ago and is like "bah, stupid, we're never going to play that." I just think back to his super-high reluctance to play "No Way" during PJ20 even though Eddie really wanted them to play it...and it's also probably why we don't see "No Way" and Yesterdays a lot...

yeh i get that feeling to a degree as well. so what does he think of the songs he has had a hand in in recent years... like supersonic and johnny guitar? those songs are absolute pus compared to the likes of no way and ATY.
