*Flying*....Living Colour
I jumped out the window to get to the parking lot
I'm writing this little song on my way down
Never in my life have I felt a heat so hot
I had to get out

Such a lovely day to go flying
The sky's so clear, the sun is shining
Fate has given me wings
Such a terrible funny thing.....

I was gathering up my nerve to ask out Carmen
She glanced out the window
Oh my God
The room It went away, now we’re holding hands
Just not the way I planed

Such a lovely day to go flying
The sky's so clear, the sun is shining
Fate has given me wings
Such a terrible funny thing
Funny thing

From the perspective of a man who gets the nerve to ask out a woman in the World Trade Center moments before the first plane hits, and the couple then jump from the burning building to their deaths

Peace to ALL affected by this tragedy
*We CAN bomb the World to pieces, but we CAN'T bomb it into PEACE*...Michael Franti

*MUSIC IS the expression of EMOTION.....and that POLITICS IS merely the DECOY of PERCEPTION*
.....song_Music & Politics....Michael Franti

*The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite INSANE*....Nikola Tesla(a man who shaped our world of electricity with his futuristic inventions)

  • disintegeration loops-william basinski. Classical composer has 20 year old tapes of different sounds he recorded. He plays them, as as he plays them notices they are disintegrating on the spot. He records that. 4 discs of these loops. He finishes the album on sept 11, has a listening party on his brooklyn apt building roof, and watches the horror of that day. Incredible album. Only album that matches The Rising in terms of depicting that day. But very different approaches. Like The Rising, its heartbreaking.

Even though it came out a year before 9/11, U2's "Walk On" is perfect and resonates well.

that whole album All That You Cant Leave Behind seems written about 9/11. I remember in the aftermath of 9/11 U2 really took the mantle back of being the biggest and best band on earth. Those songs on that album meant alot to people. Crazy to think this was released Nov 2000 I believe, and so many of the songs applied.

I agree. Not to mention there is a song called "New York" on there. They really did do a good job of healing the nation after 9/11, with their tour, the appearance on the Tribute to Our Heroes(?) special, Letterman, Leno, and then the Super Bowl halftime show in February 2002, with the best version of "Where the Streets Have No Name" I have ever heard or seen, with Bono opening his jacket with the American flag stitched inside it at the end. They were like The Beatles after JFK was assassinated.
