So where is everyone staying? I'm only about 2 1/2 hours away but will most likely get a room and crash after the show. Are there any hotels within walking distance?

Stay at the crowne plaza I did back in 06 nice hotel park car for free and you can walk to the concert, but its more that 2 blocks its about 1/2 mile away. but its a nice clean hotel and last time alot of people stayed there..

I am actually staying Providence for the weekend. I'm not familiar with the area though. Should I just stay overnight in Hartford, or go on to Providence after the show?

I am flying into Boston early Friday morning.

If you crash in Hartford you can catch a ride to Providence with us on Sat. I'll be hitting the Mansfield shows too, and i live about 20 minutes from Providence.

I'd stay overnight in Hartford because the drive to Providence after the show would be a pain in the arse. There is no direct route on the interstate between the 2 cities.

Yeah, I was just looking a Google Earth and it looks like a pain. Only 75 miles though.

I booked a room at the Motel 6 though just in case.

Just posted on another thread, but the Motel 6, Super 8 and the hotels right by the venue are pretty bad. Hookers and other stuff not uncommon there. The Crown Plaza and Hilton are the best for walking distance I think they even have shuttles to the show, buts it only a 10 or 15 min walk. I work downtown and there are some great bars downtown too. New Mariott near convention center is nice but further away.

I recommend naming your own price on Priceline, you will get the Hilton or Crown Plaza if you select downtown, and really anyplace downtown is fine. You can probably get a place on Priceline easily for what you'd save by going to the Motel 6 or Super 8 and getting bed bugs or hepatitis or something.

I can confirm this from my experience at Hartford in '06. We went to the Super 8 and it was moldy and gross. There was a huge spot of mold on the ceiling. We immediately went looking for another hotel and stayed at the Crowne Plaza. The Crowne is closest, but it's a 3/4 mile hike, but that's fun too because you just follow the horde of people walking (they're all going to the show... duh!). Hilton a bit farther but real nice and on the main street, so near bars and stuff. It's not Boston... so the prices for these places are pretty reasonable considering they are Crowne and Hilton.

Try the Priceline.com route as well. It worked for many people last tour.

I got the Hilton for 80 (97 with taxes). I think I overbid.

Priceline got me into the Sheraton for 49 (60 with taxes). That's across the river, but it was cheaper than the Motel 6 and anyway, that's what taxis are for.

BTW: the mods really need to merge all of these Hartford hotel threads. There are at least three at the moment.

be warned - you will not be getting a taxi on the ride back. i stayed at the sheraton last time pj played here and got a cab to the venue no problem - but had to walk back. it was a looooong walk. granted, this will be in june so hopefully it will be nice out. when i was there in may it was cold and rainy - not great weather to walk in. there were no cabs going back and the traffic was all backed up and not moving.

i would stay closer to the venue - just my opinion......

I was just planning to walk back downtown after the show to a bar or something and then cab back to the Sheraton later in the night.

Steve Dunne mentioned pre-party at Sweet Janes with shuttles to and from the show.

hey man - don't want to have you pissin' in the wind here, but check out the hilton or crown plaza via priceline or whatever website you used. it will be MUCH more convenient for you. if you get a good deal at the hilton, then cancel your sheraton. just sayin'. :)

Can't cancel it. Once you buy it, you buy it. And I actually used Hotwire, I don't know why I said Priceline earlier.

Anyway, thanks, but it is no big deal. I'm set. I can just take a cab to Sweet Janes or split a ride with someone or whatever. There are several of us at the Sheraton.

I bid $60 today for the Hilton and got it...started out at $55 which they didn't accept.
