I wanted to wait until after the Chicago shows to share this story our of respect of who shared it with me. My friend is a partner is a guitar store in the Detroit area called "Detroit Guitar". It is located in Birmingham Michigan. It often visited by all the Touring acts when the come into town, especially The Palace and Pine Knob (sorry DTE). In fact, the entire E Street Band (less Steve) stopped into her store when they were in town. She also has had the likes of Chad Smith, David Grohl, Joe Perry etc.... stop into the store. Anyhow, Thursday, Chris Chelios stops into the store and buys 3 Fender Guitars. He tells her that he is going to Chicago to get them signed by Eddie Vedder because Eddie will be joining Bruce on Stage this weekend. I was devastated to hear this because I knew I could not get out of my dinner plans with my wife and friends. This one could have been divorce. Anyway, yesterday at 2:30, Karen, on BTX sells me a section B seat and I was able to see 2 of my favorite performers on the same stage. Thanks Karen!!!!!!

Hope everybody had a great weekend who made the show!!!

P.S. The guitars are supposedly for a fund raiser for one of Chris' charities.

He was mentioned a few times when PJ toured Canada in 2006.

"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
  • What a great night. You can tell that Eddie was enjoying the hell out of it and I really think Morello enjoyed playing with Eddie.
  • I remember seeing pics on here of Ed taking batting practice at Comerica with Cheli (and John Cusack, i think?) after Ed's Detroit solo show. The show itself was amazing and unforgettable, but i remember thinking that it would have been completely surreal to somehow have been sitting in the stands watching those three hit BP....

I play (and buy) lots of guitar(s), but haven't heard of Detroit Guitar. Will have to try to make it up there this week.
I'm not even in the same universe as a guy who could afford to bid on (or win) a Cheli guitar signed & played by EV , at a Bruce show nonetheless, but damn would it be cool to have that instrument....

    cheers Detroit!!

I know there's a picture somewhere floating around with cheli, vedder, and laird paddle surfing in Hawaii. And I saw a funny ass pic of vedder in a full cubs uniform. Looks like a nerdy cubs fan  :corn:

I live in Birmingham...where is this Detroit Guitar you speak of?!

After all these years, I still cannot forgive Chelios for the abuse (usually after the whistle!) he put on our beloved Steve Yzerman. Even when traded to the Wings...I never cheered for him. Oh the fury in my belly when I see the Eddie Vedder solo poster for the Detroit show I attended :(

Ha...I understand....but i forgive, forgive, forgive....to quote someone or other....

Cheli has given a lot to Detroit area, he's got nothing to apologize for anymore, at least nothing that Stevie Y didn't already let pass. Good enough for The Captain, good enough for me. That poster.....i'm split on it, but at least i was there, for one of the best evenings of my life.

    cheers
  • The best guitars I have ever seen is Huber and Breese down the block from me in Fraser, Mi....Hands down Amazing.. Was just there monday getting the Guild worked on..
  • Im going to Birmingham tomorrow to verify...Until then I call Nans

Small but very classy shop. I prefer this place over a guitar Center or Motor City Guitars (to big and confusing). Ask for Charlie and tell him Shawn sent you.

Maybe that pic is from Cubs Camp in AZ? I know EV has attended it at least a couple times. Totally THE place for nerdy cubs fans

  • Nice guy, sounded French Canadian. He had that $5500 63' Fender replica only five made..And said the whole story and that the chili's guitarist I said you mean Josh. Yeah he bought out all of this one brand of a pedal..I was late night reading the book "Everyone love our town" by Mark Yarm and connected the bands.. My bad..No Shenanigans!!
