Just picked up Silver Age today and I'm completely floored! I'm a huge fan of most of Bob's work but this album is a true return to the later Husker Du/Sugar style songwriting. Pure power pop with driving guitars and of course one of the most iconic voices from the Punk/Indie/Alternative scene. Absolutely lovin' it! As a matter of fact I'm going to put it on again right now. Cheers!

Me too. This might be my favorite album of the year so far. I've had it on constant repeat since I bought it on Tuesday. Edgy, no-frills power-pop with big loud guitars, great melodies and hooks. Awesome lyrics too!
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

Just got back from the DC show and Bob killed it!!! Love Bob, love 9:30 Club, was a great combo!! What a legend, really awesome getting to see him do what he does best. Also was refreshing to see a crowd that was barely on their cell phones and barely taking pictures/video every single song! Had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed myself (though my ears were assaulted! so worth it though, of course!) despite going it alone!

glad to hear a youngster like you would have the taste to go see the legend known as Bob Mould

I've heard the first five tracks. Killer!!

why, oh why, couldn't PJ have ever had Bob for an opener? (esp. when most of their openers suck)

Is there a better feeling than idly wandering around a music store and finding something you didn't even know was out yet? Better still, it's already kicked my ass! Definitely going to be on high rotation for the next few weeks (probably until Psychedelic Pill comes out)

Time to dig out the Husker Du and Sugar cds for a Bob marathon I think :)

got it a few weeks ago and I have listened to it about 4 times

Rob, (imalive) gave me a primer course in Husker Du but I really don't know the history of the band and their relationships, so I am wondering if the lyrics to this new album from Mould is a confessional, reflection, apology, or just songs.

    Any help?

I haven't really been listening to (or reading) the lyrics....I'm just jamming to the heavy beats

with all the shit he's been thru, tho, I would imagine the lyrics are meaningful.
