2004 all over again...

Talk about Déjà vu...

In 2004, the Democrats put up a rich, out of touch, stiff candidate, who really had no specific policies, but instead ran on an "I'm not George Bush, and will try to undo what he did" platform.

Now, it's the same exact thing, but fill in Mitt Romney for John Kerry, and Obama for Bush.

Didn't the Republicans pay attention to how that worked out for the Democrats in 2004?

    Difference is:

    1) The Economy is horrible now, it didn't seem to be then
    2) Romney was a governor, Kerry was a senator
    3) Bush had one eight-year President in front of him... Obama has two... Three consecutive eight-year Presidents has only occurred once in US history.

Basic jist - odds aren't on Obama's side. They were better for Bush. This has nothing to do with either person either. It's just odds. Obama will lose due to this - particularly #1.

My mind can't compare Kerry and Mitt sorry but I get the point
sounds like you might think it is a given our President has a second term
    coming.

I think it's going to be very close, our President needs to come with new strategy
    and not more slogans.

I am still asking myself as I think everyone is...
"Are we better off than four years ago"

Personally for us and our business it's no, definitely not because of the economy
or anything the administration has done.

We ourselves have made decisions like no buying, no travel, pay down the cards, refinance.
Move the business, downsize employees and benefits, buy a fuel efficient vehicle.

Its like many people ... tightening the belt, watching spending
but it is not because more money is coming in or because this administration
did anything to help the economy.

    And the deficit ... :wtf:
the interest alone is mind boggling I feel like America is somebody's bitch lately,
and not in a good way.

What are we going to ever do about that!

How quickly we all forget how shitty things were four years ago. Economy was in a shambles, depression was inevitable, stock market was in the gutter, bankruptcies left & right. I sure haven't forgotten. It was fucking scary.

I've always thought Romney was a Republican version of Kerry. Both from Massachusetts even! Doesn't necessarily mean he will lose, but the analogy is apt. Romney puts Kerry's flip flopping to shame as well.
