Any recommendations for a free or paid parental control for android? The most important feature would be blocking times certain phone features can be used.

I've been looking for a week and finding it all quite confusing.

  • not really. I want to turn the phone off at night and during school hours and also be able to peek on texts every now and then. Leaning towards phone sheriff but it's 50.00 a year.

p.s.-it kills me that I have to do this so I would appreciate it if everyone would not go off on the 'invasion of privacy' thing.

I totally understand. Don't have kids myself, but if you are paying for the phone and monthly service, you have every right to control how the phone is used. I have friends that gave their kids cell phones and were shocked after getting the first bill, $1400 in text messages. (that was for ONE kid)

Here is what came up in the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/search?q= ... rol&c=apps
one app I saw looked like what you are looking for, but it was given crap ratings. I'll keep looking for you.

  • I've looked through most of those and yes, the crap reviews are turning me off. Or they were invented last month.

free, looks like what you might be looking for, i read thru the reviews, and looks like most are from kids whose parents installed it on their phones

If you don't like it, uninstall it.

  • thanks.
  • I found the perfect parental control! It's by stanley and rhymes with 'schmammer'. :D
  • Good thing my parents never did this. Yikes.... that would be a few awkward conversations.
