Man, can it be over yet?

CANNOT wait for this election cycle to end. Real sick of hearing the misrepresentations and convenient forgetting that goes on from both sides.

RNC week, seeing what I would call some dirty pool in how they are setting up future conventions. Are these things really necessary anymore? Arent they just a huge waste of money?

I will expect the same rhetoric out of the Dems next week.

My company sent out a fleet message telling us to avoid Charlotte if possible or route around the city if need be. Makes me glad I'm on a dedicated account these days.

Yeah, I fastened my seatbelt awhile ago...but I don't see much of a difference in the conventions (DNC yet to be seen, sure, but not expecting any change) between now and four years ago, and four years before that, and so on. It's pretty standard shit, rhetoric included.

(and I can't tell if it's increased or my tolerance for it has dropped, but enough with the "well, HE said this" crap)

I could not agree more. Imagine going into a job interview and telling the employer about how bad the other candidates suck instead of talking about your own skills, accomplishments and goals.

I come to MT mainly to vent my personal opinion on "issues" - kinda cause it's anonymous and I do think it's interesting to discuss "issues". That said, I absolutely never bring up politics when with friends, family, etc. I will, however, discuss issues respectfully if someone else brings it up. I think bringing it up, with a presumption that you're right and everyone agrees, when with family or friends is annoying and not really respectful. My point - well, this election is particularly annoying on social media.

For example, I just joined facebook this past year - so I'm not use to this with politics. I shouldn't have joined... but I did - my wife asked me to. It was a mistake, but I admit I waste time on there and photo sharing is good. Anyway, now I go in occasionally and see "friends and family" spouting their political opinions. It's beyond annoying to watch dipshits on both sides spout off consistently on the political game of football. One posts a Hannity quote, the other a Maddow quote.... One cites and article from NYT, the other WSJ.... And I like politics. There's some who don't - how exactly do these idiots think they are coming off to those people?

Pom-poms are waving everywhere. It's quite sickening and I can't wait for it to be over.

Totally agree with you Hedonist! I've gone to almost exclusively watching shows I have recorded so I can fly by the political B.S. commercials. One lie/spin job/misrepresentation/name callin' & finger pointing waste of 30 seconds after another.

    Cheers,

I'm similar in the lack of political discussions in "real life"...definitely not at work anymore - seems too sensitive an issue, too volatile for some.

And it's funny because I've found that it's OK to be liberal on certain social issues but as soon as I mention being fiscally conservative, I get the old (and beloved) "oh, you're one of THEM".

    No, I'm ME.

    And open to healthy conversation.

I WANT to know where you're coming from. I WANT to understand. I WANT to learn from you, if you're willing to not be derisive, judgmental, or an asshole overall (on any view). It's not helping to get your point across.

(ps - cheers back to ya, barger!)
