And if that wasn't enough... it's called The Cracker Bay.
Interesting that he has a yacht doesn't pay taxes. The video on the link... pretty telling...

(incorporated in the Cayman Islands)
The floating party, hosted by a Florida developer on his yacht "Cracker Bay," was one of a dozen exclusive events meant to nurture those who have raised more than $1 million for Romney's bid.
"I think it's ironic they do this aboard a yacht that doesn't even pay its taxes," said a woman who lives aboard a much smaller boat moored at the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina.
Romney's Cayman-based investments have come under fire during the campaign.
The event, attended by no more than 50 people, along with Romney relatives, including older brother Scott, appeared on no public calendars. ABC News obtained a schedule of the Romney campaign's "Victory Council" and waited dockside to speak with members.
"It was a really nice event. These are good supporters," said billionaire Wilbur Ross, an energy industry executive.
I think this yacht belonged to the Florida developer...if so be deal. How many of those A-List celebrities that support the democrats own property outside the US...I'm sure many, many.

Not paying any taxes for 10 years = a big deal.
I'm not commenting about him not paying tax for 10 years...Commented that the yacht is not his.

...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.
Unfortunately something tells me that if either side had any real solutions, they would run on those.

If it's not illegal, then the "problem" (if you want to call it that) is with the tax laws.
I think our government has far too much of our money anyway. I heard on the radio this morning that a local entity got a federal grant to try and identify some old graves found in a potter's field.

Do you really think any of those politicians are in touch with the middle class or poor people? I think its safe to assume they are not.

I wonder how Obama became a Millionaire?
Levelheadedness has no place in politics, or in the discussion of them.
No more of that from you!
Well, my friend, obviously a little humor does.

I see threads mocking the GOP for not saying things based on facts ... then I see this thread ... then I rub my eyes, shake my head, and go play in the AET for a while.

I heard Obama car uses foreign tires... AND his daughter once waved a french flag in a school project!!!!

He made his money writing books. But he also isn't mega-rich. He's rich... Yes. But his net worth is about $11 million. Romeny's is unknown since he's hidden so much of it in foreign tax shelters. But probably close to $750 million.
And Romeny was born rich.
Yeah. Sorry, was in the mood to stir the pot.
Meh... Got people talking, right?
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
Look at his tax returns, which he released, and you'll see. The majority of his "wealth" comes from his book sales and income as President, some of which now may be invested in a blind trust.
Interesting how the last three democrat presidents were people of modest means who worked hard and got to the top only to be criticized as a simple peanut farmer, cheater and foreign, non-citizen muslim for having done so as opposed to the Bushes and now Willard Mitt Romney who started from privelage and slam every government program that might give the average person a leg up. I thought Horatio Alger was a republican hero?

I just have to say, I love the humor in these threads, from all sides. My ribs hurt.

So what if this is actually true?
I miss that thread. :(
you make a great point.
it is sad. Those situations should be celebrated by the republicans as a "see it is possible" kind of thing. You can disagree but still be complimentary. The republicans should never downplay "bootstrap" stories.
now back to what is important... Cayman island tax shelters are more American than apple pie.

It's not "bad" to be rich. What is "bad" is when you then use your money to stack the deck in your favor, screwing over the people and the national infrastructure that would make it possible for anyone else to thrive or even survive. Nobody expects him to "pay more taxes than what is owed."
But he hasn't even paid what is owed. He's hidden his money in foreign accounts, used shady accounting to hide his wealth and has reportedly not paid taxes for 10 years. (and once they finally get through the very intentionally-written clusterfuck that is the Bain accounting documents, we probably WILL have proof that he broke laws.)
Nobody is attacking him because he's rich. There are rich people who see that they made their money by using the system set up and paid for by us all and are willing to take part in it's continued support and growth and THEN there are the rich people who think of us as worker bees or "you people" that are a sub-human race that they don't really need to care about.
and THAT is the issue.
Nothing wrong with being rich, but if someone stashes their riches offshore to avoid paying tax on the investment income derived from the offshore investments, they is in violation of IRS law!
