Ed's most beautiful song IMHO

After hearing "Just Breathe" at nearly every PJ concert I have attended, and also solo in Philly, I have come to the conclusion that it's the most beautiful song that Ed has ever written. The lyrics, the music, the sentiment, all come together to create a song that I believe will be timeless. If Ed were to sing this song at every PJ and solo show I attend in the future, I would be more than satisfied!:clap:

I agree that it is definitely up there as one of the best but there are so many wonderfully written songs lyrically and musically that have given up trying to find the very top one. Funny story... I occasionally play pj in the car with my kids. They always complain bc really they would rather pick on each other in the car and I insist that everyone is quiet while listening to pj. I played Just Breathe one time and everyone was completely silent. When the song finished there was not a peep from the back seat for a few seconds and then my 4year old son said, "now THAT was a beautiful song!" It sounded so funny coming from him and really was right! I guess this song is not only timeless but also ageless.

    It's a great song, but it's over-played a bit now.

and shetellsherself I remember when my son watched the ACL performance with me in 09...
he was 25 and said the same!
I agree timeless ageless will never ever tire if it.

There are countless other songs by Ed/PJ that I feel the same, why I love him and them so.
We are the lucky ones! :D
  • Pandora, we are indeed the lucky ones! There are many other lovely PJ songs-for example, Nothingman just takes my breath away every time I hear it live. However, "Just Breathe" has a very special quality about it. I had heard it live at almost every concert I attended. When I didn't hear it at Amsterdam 2, I missed it!! I believe that each time Ed sings it, he is affirming his love for his wife! :D

I agree, but I would rather this song open the encores instead of No More

PJ's most beautiful and probably powerful song will always be Release, at least in my opinion.

I'm partial to Nothingman, but I'm not sure it counts because he wrote it with Jeff

Therefore, yeah, Just Breathe just about tops it :D

  • This is a tough one. The new Man of the Hour is perfect. Thumbing My Way when he sings the end an octave higher, Guaranteed and Without You are all just beautiful. Just Breathe is certainly a beautiful song but I'll agree and say it's a little over played.

Just Breathe is a great track, I agree, especially when played along side Light Years, Come Back and The End with Arc last.
