Honestly, I think it is a Publicity stunt. Plain and simple.

Chance to get national tv face time while everyone is talking about the repub convention.

Do people in New Orleans know yet that they are below sea level?
    Good question.

Smart move to get publicity but his team also needs to be aware of the political implications that hinge on the potential damage this storm could cause. Both parties do.

    You got something across.

About the Obama thing...Yeah, it may be a publicity thing...whatever...but you cant say that there arent a few folks in N.O. that simply don't know better, and still dont know how to prepare for a hurricane. It really isnt that easy maybe...we learned that with Katrina. Maybe hearing it from the top will motivate them to be more prepared. Any bit helps. But of course, some people who dislike Obama will nitpick at any reason to hate him. and for the record, i'm not an Obama fan, but I'm just trying to stay positive about the outlook of a devastating storm and Obama's involvement. In addition, we know how much a lack of involvement can hurt, ala Georgie Bush and Katrina.

This is what Presidents do. This is what leaders of countries have done and will continue to do, regardless of party affiliation.

Is it grandstanding? Well of course it is.

Is he using all the tools at his disposal to help his re-election bid? Well of course he is as would every president.

You know this, so what exactly is your point? Are you simply trolling?

If the sight of a minority representing you bothers you so much turn off the TV.

Obama is holding a press conference tonight about gas prices. Something about the national average for a gallon of gas exceeding $2.00 a gallon! :o

I think he might be behind on this one too but free face time is never a bad thing.

    jeez.... :nono:  :geek: 8-)

Agreed. I'd much prefer no reassurance that the government is doing everything they can and I'd much prefer my President to fly over the city a few days later while bodies are rotting and being eaten by rats in the streets.

BTW...just saw that Obama will not be in FL or LA for the storm...he'll be off on the campaign trail. He;s hitiing college campuses in Iowa, Colorado, and Virginia. At least he has his priorities straight for the country. Thanks for the 2:00 minute press conference Prez.

Why would he be? What president would be in the path of the storm? You're grasping at straws. There are legitimate reasons not to like this president. Why don't you stick to those.

Okay so it’s not that he’s a minority…then what is your issue with Obama doing as any president would do?

    Are you simply trolling?

    Are you seeking attention?

No attention...no trolling...but I love when Obama supporters here throw those words around...kind of funny actually. He held a press conference...I commented about it. Why is this so wrong? You do realize you have the right to not read the post and certainly have the right to not comment on it correct?

Bush flew over AFTER the storm had already passed. Days after. His entire admin was slw to respond. Rice was shopping the day after while people were dying.
