We used to think about love a lot
it wasn't hard, I remember...
it was a favorite topic on our tongues
as delicious as chocolate or strawberries
no tricks, costumes, or disguises
(well, maybe a few disguises)
but no dumb tricks!
and it was all out there on the lawn
in front of the house
the scene was pretty and open
simple love songs
and happy tunes about April, May or June
I remember those clear afternoons
and the nights too
almost as bright as the days
under a full moon
