I think we're forgetting an important issue here. People simply won't leave unless they play it. I'd rather get kicked out by this fine song than a grumpy security guy :)

  • I don't know about the rest of the Euro '12 boots, but the Amsterdam #1 and #2 are stellar.

Just downloaded #1, and listened to #2 on Sirius today.

Keep an ear out for the Oslo show. 2nd only to Amsterdam 2.
after Prague....you gonna change your opinion.. ;)

    oh oh oh...oh oh oh..

and that Berlin 2 start...is amazing...

    D,
Forgot they played God's Dice, Push Me, Pull Me, and Of the Girl at Prague.
    You're right! :)
    Run for it, Marty.

Studio always sounds best to me for actually hearing how the songs are supposed to sound. I love how the live versions sound too but they sometimes lose parts that made the originals great in the first place. For example, Insignificance never has the little solo that they used to play at the quiet middle section before the song builds back up to full tempo. It sounds completely empty now without it...

Yellow Ledbetter is good live but you can't top that Hendrix sound of the original.. 8-)
Like a book among the many on a shelf...

While I appreciate and enjoy the art of studio recorded music and all that goes into it, I've always preferred the "Real-ness" of live performances. In the studio, It's much easier to massage and coax the sounds into a polished product. Hell, the individual musicians don't even have to be in the same room at the same time or even in the same place. Plus a lot of the finished sound is shaped by mixing and mastering engineers long after the musicians lay down their tracks.
To me, studio stuff (for any artist) is like "photoshop-ing" the music.
The live performance is where you show that you are the real deal and that you can actually make it happen.

I"m sick of YLB. It's a great song, but enough already. I can't believe they think it's awesome to close with the same song over and over and over and over and over and over again. I wish they would stop playing it for a good long while - I listen to a full concert at least a few times a week. I'd like to be surprised by the end sometimes.

I could have not said it better. It's my cue to make a beeline for the parking lot.
