    And I have to say that - while in no way discounting the discussions that happen here (I've learned a lot from them, whether as an observer or participant) - I find stories like this such a welcome reprieve from the other muck.

    They're needed.

    No controversy, just a "yeah, that's fuckin awesome."

    well done, mr. kid rock & whomever else is involved. i am not into your tunes at all but you do have a bulky heart. this is good stuff. why don't more well off folks do this kinda stuff? sure many do and we never-ever hear a peep about it, which is cool. often i believe many wealthy fuckers take their money and run.

    There are a number of these about - they do fantastic (and concrete) work. Celebrities participating in these events/working with these organisations can help raise their profiles and, by this, get more people involved.
