  • OH HELL YEAH!

This was my first ever show. I spent an hour on the phone the night before trying to win a pair of the free tickets, and when that didn't work i stayed up all night because i was so excited about possibly buying a pair.

After a few minutes of refreshing the page, they appeared at about 8.55am and i quickly got a pair! I ran outside barefoot in the rain screaming and dancing around campus, probably waking people up! I've never been so excited!

It was an amazing show, very intense. Started off up front about two or three rows back, right in front of Eddie. Had to move during Severed Hand because it was just a bit too squased. Found a more comfortable spot next to this heavily-built guy who kept wrapping his arms around me and making me jump up and down with him. He was a bit annoying because all he'd shout in between songs was 'Alive! Fuckin' play Alive!!'...and then, to top it all of, when they finally played Alive at the end of the night, he started screaming for Black! Some people are never happy!
"This town deserves a better class of criminal... and I'm gonna give it to them."

  • is the only word that can describe it

Amazing gig. I was about 3 rows back right in front of Ed Ved. It all seemd a bit surreal.
  • it was amazing...just shocked i got tickets had 5 family members trying to get me tickets when i got them myself..... i had to have a few beers to celebrate...waited 6 six years to see them again... and I thought the Wembley Arena gigs in 96 was a long wait to 2000
  • we will never see a show this good again
A democracy on paper, apparently well ordered, regularly subverted by irrational chaos.

    Leeds - 6/7/2014
    London - 18/6/2018
  • It was indeed, amazing.

I was one of the lucky ten club winners in our special enclosure thing upstairs. Would have liked to have been up close down the front too, but as someone else said, there wasnt a bad view in the whole place. And we did get to walk around with "Pearl Jam VIP" Stickers on, which was cool.

Ive seen them 5 times between 2000 and 2006 and this was easily the best.

My first show too (after parting with £200) ! It was aalll too surreal. I couldn't believe there was such a big PJ fanbase in the UK...and everyone was in london to see the show.

It did feel like we were in a small dingy club in Seattle in 1992 experiencing a great band that no one had heard of!

Another first for me, I sure miss that night...
  • I was about to find and bump the old / original thread until I found this one!

Astoria was the first time myself and my girlfriend had ever seen Pearl Jam, and I can safely say with certainty that it was the best day of our lives together so far, and probably will be until either a) we get hitched or b) we have kids. Dublin was great, but it wasn't Astoria. What an absolutely incredible night, makes me all choked a bit just thinking about it, I'd do anything to go back and relive it.
  • What happened to the other thread?!! It didn't get deleted did it? :(

  • As much as I'd love to relive the whole experience, I doubt I'll ever go to a gig like that again in my life. I could see PJ from the barrier a hundred times, but it wouldn't come close. Not the energy, the form, the set-list, the crowd, the run-up to it, the smell, the volume and of course, the second best music venue in the whole world.

True Rob.. unique experience. What's the first best venue then?

It's on Oxford Street (if my memory serves me right!). Lots of bands played there before being famous and even after. Lots of different genres too. Hubby saw the sex pistols there... I remember seeing Nico... It's been around for ever! A bit like the marquee was...
