So Milton Hall (of Michigan) was shot dead last month by police. He had some kind of altercation and called 911. Officers came to the scene, where Milton brandished a knife. From the video, I dont see him as too threatening...At least not enough to deserve 30+ rounds, shot dead.

Family claims he might have had a mental illness...

    unconscionable!

this man appeared to be of no immediate threat to anyone other than himself.

there is absolutely NO excuse for this..NONE.

deadly force is not an option when deadly force is not being used against the officers or an innocent citizen.

    i am enraged!

i don't want to hear about his mental or criminal history
it is totally irrelevant to this particular instance.

this is why i hate hate hate hate hate hate hate guns!
i know...not a gun control argument, but its how i feel

    I agree.
Most of the time, and maybe i'm naive, I trust most law enforcement. But some people just shouldnt have guns or be the one to decide who lives and who dies. They should be tried for murder. Yes, as an alternative --taser, set the dogs on him, mace, pepper spray... i dunno, but that video is gut wrenching.

I'm surprised this story isnt enormous. (yet)

the guns didn't kill him. the police did...

in all seriousness, hearing about this kind of thing breaks my heart. a taser should have been used, followed by non lethal means like a bean bag round. why would this guy require 30 bullet wounds?

shoot first investigate later is not the way to go.

I grew up watching 70's cop shows, no tasers, no pepper spray, most of the time they would just try to talk a guy out of doing something stupid and fire as a last resort, maybe some psychology courses would help.

yeah...crazy..if the ones are suppose to be prepared for this job, cant do it and do such a mistake.....
then...a parent at a movie theater..can put out his gun and shoot 3-4 young guys cos he though, maybe will attack his family...

if this happened here..the court will give ..10-20 years in prison for policemen who shoots...and like 5 yeaes for the rest policeman at scene they didnt stop them...

    Wait. What?

Miners charged with deaths of 34 killed by police

South Africa's National Prosecuting Authority says it is charging 270 arrested miners with the murders of 34 striking colleagues who were shot and killed by police officers.

The strange development -- which comes under an arcane Roman-Dutch common law -- seems to show that President Jacob Zuma's government is attempting to shift the blame for the killings from police to the striking miners. The killings shocked the nation and Thursday's news likely will inflame already angry South Africans.
Prosecuting Authority spokesman Frank Lesenyego says all 270 miners arrested after the shootings were charged Thursday at a court near the Lonmin PLC platinum mine where the

On Aug. 16, striking miners armed with clubs, machetes and at least one gun allegedly charged at police, who opened fire.

    That is horrible...

So many of these cases, we don't really know how it went down, but with this video, it seems pretty clear.

Granted the guy had a knife and was going a bit nuts, but like said before, why not a tazer?

Some of you guys are unbelievable, but I'm not going to go down that path in this thread.

Anyhow, is it just me or did it look like the victim was walking away from the cops when they started shooting?? That damn blue pickup truck drove through the line of sight of the video at a shitty time, but it definitely looked like the guy was walking away from the cops. I don't understand how the guy had suddenly become such a threat that they all had to start shooting. Fucked up.
