What's up libs? I thought only conservative nut jobs were supposed to try to mass murder those who hold opposite opinions. I tell ya, the world these days ...

Family Research Council shooting suspect had 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches in bag, FBI says

Floyd Lee Corkins II, the suspect in Wednesday's shooting ‏at the Washington, D.C., headquarters of the Family Research Council, was carrying 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches in a bag when he opened fire, according to the criminal complaint filed by the Justice Department on Thursday.

Corkins, 28, of Herndon, Va., was charged with "interstate transportation of a firearm and ammunition"—a federal offense—along with the "intent to kill while armed." The offenses carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison for transportation of a weapon, and 30 years for intent to kill. Corkins is expected to make an initial court appearance later Thursday.

According to the FBI affidavit, Corkins' parents said their son "has strong opinions with respect to those he believes do not treat homosexuals in a fair manner." According to The Associated Press, Corkins "had been volunteering recently at a community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people."
Corkins legally purchased the handgun he used in the shooting—a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol—in Virginia last week, the FBI said.

Lunacy knows no bounds - or political leanings!

Yeah, I read about this yesterday, though I didn't know about the sandwiches. 15, huh?

Wonder what he was gonna do with them...

Since I have no inside contacts or credible sources at hand, I feel qualified to make an official opinion that major news networks can run with if they so choose ... he was going to use them like death cards. Infantry would lay the ace of spades on dead Viet Cong soldiers. This guy was going to lay Chick-fil-A sandwiches on the 15 people he planed on murdering.

That's a fact, people. It's only good science. :ugeek:

    Who said that?

Plenty of ass holes to go around on all sides.

I just hope the brave security guard makes a speedy and full recovery, and I'm glad nobody else was harmed or killed. And I hope the poor guy gets a raise or something. ;)

It's scary that this actually makes sense. Why the hell else would he be patronizing Chick-fil-a, given recent events and his beliefs about LGBT rights?

I am just giddy with excitement that we may finally have a liberal shooter.

It will justify all our wackos!

People are losing their minds ...
    really
  • Not like I'd ever advocate mass murder, but the FRC has been so venomous and vitriolic and has said so many outrageous and downright hateful things that it doesn't surprise me that they would be the target of someone who finally snapped.

Again... This was a seriously disturbed person and I'm not going to make excuses for what he may have done, if the story that we're getting is accurate... But I'll admit that seeing all those gleeful smiling faces supporting a company that bragged about donating to recognized hate groups was pretty jarring and mixed with someone unbalanced, it's only a matter of time before things like this happen.

And as far as it being a liberal/conservative thing, do we even low if the guy who shot up the movie theater had any political leaning at all?

This thread reminds me of these terms:

    -false dilemma
    -false dichotomy
    -either-or fallacy
    -fallacy of false choice
    -black-and-white thinking
    -the fallacy of exhaustive hypotheses

and of course, good old logical fallacy

People in this thread (not you) are losing their minds. THIS IS NOT FUNNY.

I think the reason they are saying he is a liberal guy is because he volunteers for a LGBTQ non-profit and as we all know you must be liberal to work with those people.

( i hope people can sense that I am being sarcastic on that last line)

The nature of this thread was meant to be 100% serious, but only 50% of the time.

Of course the guy is nuts. Most of these guys are nuts. Be it they are obsessed with conservative politics, liberal politics, or Miss Piggy ... first and foremost they are nuts.

Typically I do not make light of shootings, but no one was seriously injured and the guy had 15 chicken sandwiches with him. (i know, that makes me a monster).

They're all terms related to "black and white" thinking. I'm poking fun at the OP's assertion that liberals believe only right wing nut cases are capable of going berserk. But as Johnny Abruzzo pointed out, the issue is not funny so I should not jest.

Everyone's got an agenda, whether subtle or not.

Anyway, I admit to having a sick sense of humor sometimes and frankly, I'm unapologetic for it. It can help to maintain sanity.

I also appreciate it in others, as in the bolded part up there. Sorry, but that's fuckin hilarious.

Doesn't equate to heartlessness - not even close.

Sorry if that was an overreaction.

Seems like, in this day and age, where there's a new whacko shooting people up every week it seems, maybe it's not something to joke about.

Guy carrying around 15 Chick-fil-a sandwiches. Ok, it's kind of funny, but not really if he was going to use them as calling cards.

I don't know. I like sick jokes as much as the next guy, but I thought this went a little too far.

    I totally get it.

Sometimes it's a laugh-or-cry type of thing (especially recently), and I choose to laugh - have to.

    Like I said, sanity-maintenance.
