I don't get these CD's. Why can't your kids just listen to the real thing????
Perhaps I'm just a bad father. All 4 of my sons have been listening to full leaded rock from the day they were born.
I don't think watering things down is raising them right. Next thing you know, you'll rationalize why buying Big Time Rush CDs is ok.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

I don't think these Rockabye Baby CD's were created to help give your child an appreciation for music... but more to help lull them to sleep while giving the parent something to enjoy as well.0 -

Why can't your kids go to sleep to real music? I understand how they sell the concept. If you missed it - I have 4 kids. They did sleep while they were babies.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -
I bought it. And I seriously doubt my two month old daughter is gonna sleep to regular Pearl Jam. So we will stick to rock a bye Pearl Jam0

Ok great. That works for you. But I can see how some may feel the full leaded rock of a Tool, Stones or Zeppelin CD isn't appropriately soothing to put their child to sleep.0 -
My kids fall right to sleep when I put "Fuck Me in the Brain" on the stereo for them. Absolute god send.And so you see, I have come to doubt

Music is music. And nobody's suggesting you blast Lukin in their ear. But, you think kids tell the difference between a bunch of pansies playing Black and PJ? Well, yes they do. And if you're that concerned, there's Benaroya Hall. (I do find it ironic this thread shares a page with the indignant Oracle thread. Talk about selling out.
)
But, then again, my 4 year old asks for Led Zeppelin to be put on the stereo and my 8 year old can't wait to see The Who. Eh. To each their own.
(There's also busy boxes that play "soothing" music if you get really desparate. My guess is you aren't listening to it WITH them at that point as you've suggested. And who the f in their right mind would listen to Tool let alone subject their kids to it?)Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

Nope. I love the responses. Umm. Yeah. Never read to my kids. As a matter of fact, my 12 year old can't read himself. I've kept him locked in a room with a constant loop of Jeremy from the 2nd week of life. I hope he's ok. Thanks for reminding me. I'll check on him tonight.
To simplify my message:
Rock music turned into baby music = lame. Kids are not fragile and there's other places to get your lullaby on. I don't care if you do it. Just an opinion. Don't take it so personally. Though, I do understand with Oraclegate going on, we're all a little uptight these days.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -
That's great for when they're awake and active in the day, and I agree with you. I wish my parents had had better taste in music; I had to listen to shit like Zamfir when I was a baby!!EdsonNascimento wrote:I don't get these CD's. Why can't your kids just listen to the real thing????

But I don't think I'd play an infant Spin the Black Circle or Big Wave when I'm trying to get them to fall asleep!
So baby Pearl Jam is better than, say, ZAMFIR!

As I am becoming a first time father in January, I've wondered what my fellow fans have chosen. I think I'll try the Bennaroya route and some bridge schools for baby lullaby, and save cranking Spin The Black Circle and Habit for when it's time to get up for school!! Yup this fatherhood thing is gonna be a breeze. What do you play them when they misbehave?
