Thinking of MSG 1 & 2 personally. I assume they played a mighty set (certainly looks that way by the Setlist)

Any thoughts?

Great shows if I must say but one show that gets no respect is Mansfield 1. I happened to be there but listening to it over and over again, I can't get over how great the set list is. Hartford is pretty good too.

The setlist at Bonaroo looks great but I've heard they sound a bit sloppy. Does it come off that way on the boot?
    Uniondale. 2003
    MSG 1+2. 2010
    Wrigley. Brooklyn 2. Hartford. 2013
    St. Louis. Denver. 2014

    MSG 2. Fenway 2. Wrigley 1. 2016
    Safeco 2. Missoula. 2018
  • The Roo set is solid on paper but definately sloppy. Hartford steals the show as far as I'm concerned.
  • I think the Roo bootleg sounds great.

I think they sounded great. I've also read on here from others that they were sloppy, but I've gotta disagree

Columbia was awesome. I don't think you'll be dissappointed.

I would go with Columbia, the setlist for Roo was awesome though the sound is not that great same for Hartford though, the setlist for Hartford was sick was for some reason the bootleg sounds kinda rough to me...

Tampa is an excellent boot, maybe not the best setlist in the entire tour though hearing Sometimes, Present Tense and Nothingman that night was awesome!

The sound on that boot is really really good, Sometimes is haunting and the crowd during Betterman and specially Black was something else.

Hartford, Columbia and Roo are all good... Personally, I like the DC boot the best, but i was at that show.... It's got the best versions of Black and RVM from the tour.

finally heard all the boots and would go for the MSG2 version of RVM, but then that's the show i was at so... :o

as for the best boot overall... putting bias aside... i'd say Hartford or Roo...

but i still love the audience recording of MSG2!

D not only are your goalie skils bad, but so are your setlist skills.

    mansfield 2 = WASH + BEEGIRL + FOOTSTEPS.

    ;)

  • Not to sound like a PJ snob, I will support them in anything, but the 08 boots are the poorest quality they have released. The fact that they release all of their shows is the sh*t. But if you rated them, the 08 boots are the worst in my opinion.

Definitely; I think the band sound sloppy and make MANY more mistakes than usual for the whole tour, Ed's voice sounds tired and weak and the mixing on all the boots leaves much to be desired.

If you want two, I'd personally go for Washington DC and Mansfield II. You really don't need anything else.

My main problem with the 2008 boots is with the performances themselves, which are ultra sloppy. The mixing sucks for the first two shows but improves substantially after that. The mastering is also too bassy and loud, which is a step back from previous boots.

I agree the sound isn't great, but it's better than 05. MSG 1 is excellent, as well as Mansfield 2. I've heard Hartford was fantastic, and judging by the setlist I'd agree, so I'd go with those, as well as possibly Columbia.

Personally I think the '05 boots, overall, were of better quality sound-wise (damn shame they're MP3 only). The band were in much better form too, they make nowhere near as many fuck-up's and Ed's voice is better by a country mile.

Hartford has a great setlist but the performance is a real let down, the band make mistakes all over the place.

Those 05 boots were terrible, with the exception of the remastering of the Gorge, the Borgata shows, and the Philly shows. You can barely hear the guitar, and it sounds like the band is playing in a hangar. The band was tighter on that tour, but the sound was worse.

The early Canadian boots don't sound very good, I'll definitely admit that, but I wouldn't say they're any worse than West Palm Beach or Tampa in 2008.

The later Canadian/North American boots and all of the South American boots all sound pretty good though, certainly much better than any of the 2008 shows to me.

    Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks!

For what it's worth, they've never bettered the 2000 boots to me. I wish they'd mix them like that again.

Amen to that. Tight drums, ballsy guitars, perfect EQ...never been the same since.
  • The 2000 shows are great. The sound quality is great. Matt adds a great breathe of fresh air to these shows. He is much funkier in these shows than in the more recent shows. Listen to GTF in the 2000 shows. Works the toms like a rib...
  • I have six of them. Roo and MSG1. Alternately, Roo and Columbia.
    That's my 2 cents.
    I'm done now.
    See y'all later.
    Good luck with your choices.
    Bye.
MSG2 is low on my list of great 08 shows.
Black Diamond? I'd trade it in if I could... for 2 nickels.
    That's it.
    I'm done now.
    Bye.

That may be so, but that may not be the issue.
Glad to have ur opinion, though.
Probably we should all just drop whatever we are doing and agree with u right away... would that make us safe boss?
