Does lollapalooza count as a concert? I realize its a festival but that was my first experience (wow 20 years ago!). I went to the Vancouver show with PJ, SG, RHCP etc.... otherwise my first arena concert would be Metallica years later...

Yes it was my first concert ever---1996 Ft Lauderdale Baseball Stadium. I was in the pit area on Mike's Side and I just remember holding on the inside guard rail (where there were medics and stuff for injuries) for my life and just being blown away from Ben Harper opening with Voodoo Child and all the way to the end. I already had PJ on such a pedestal that I was afraid that seeing them in person would disappoint---lol, complete opposite. I remember thinking to myself "why are all these girls crowd surfing---" , it was amazing how much groping they had to tolerate:) It was almost like tripping out seeing all these things for the first time.
Man, I remember driving back after the show with the 3 other guys I was with (they were actually disappearing into the pit the whole show, crazy mofos) and I told them it was my first concert ever. They were like holy crap "you will never see a show like that again". They were certainly right. Freaking Eddie hanging for his life, I remember him wrapping himself with tape before he climbed and everyone thought he was going to jump into the crowd so the surge to each side he was on was just insane. Oh, and I couldnt hear out of my left ear for quite awhile because of the speakers.
So yea, PJ popped the cherry for me----talk about waiting for the right one, lol96 - Ft Lauderdale

Nope, first "real" concert was Metallica and COC in 1997. Metallica was my favorite band from that point until 2004 when I first saw PJ!!I know we've been to Ohio and I know we've never been to Toledo, and i know i've never smiled while wearing a speedo.

Certainly was. 1995, Eastern Creek Raceway, New South Wales, Australia. The band had just relesed Vitalogy and Not For You was the new single at the time. Eddie did a preset which included Throw Your Arms Around Me, which is an Australian classic. Support was The Cosmic Psychos and The Meanies and PJ were brilliant as always.
I went with a couple of friends on a bus tour and I remember representatives of the band greeting us as we arrived and asking us how much we paid. They wanted to make sure we had paid a fair price and not been ripped off. It was close to a 2 hour trip each way on the bus but we only paid $60 each for the transport and concert ticket. That moment has stuck with me ever since and I think it says a lot about the band.
When we got back to the bus it was bogged and they could not get it out so we had to wait for another one to come. We sat on the bus and watched Speed- ironic, i know- and ended up getting home about 6am. What a great night

First PJ concert was 17 years ago today. Soldier Field / Chicago ! ! ! 8-)
Whoops.....17 years and 1 month. LOL ! :fp:
My reconstructive jaw surgery was 17 years ago today. I knew today was memorable for something. I coded after surgery and they had to bring me back to life. I think July 11, 1995 was a better day in my life than August 11, 1995. :?Post edited by Uncle Snuffy onSoldier Field - Jul 11, 1995, Savage Hall - Sep 22, 1996,
