Read that... but, I know there is a truth to the fact that a number of bombs have been dropped... it's the data they collect that is questionable. Such as, what about those aircraft that were shot down en route to the target... what about those bombs?
I understand that we can inventory each ordinance by manufacturer serial number and serial number to sortie and get a clear picture... but, i don't think we'll ever get a full, truthful picture.
    ...
Either way... it is a horribly large number.

Despite all the pretty video from the first Gulf War, aerial bombardment was and is still is something of a crap shot...that's one reason that the number of total ordinance is so high. There still is debate whether aerial bombardment during WWII was worth the dollars and lives spent on it.

And included thinking of all this bombing-as-crap-shoot, we should acknowledge the other casualties (besides humans of course)- animals and everything else living, species habitat, geographic features, and irreplaceable art and architecture.

Great idea....mentions of animals/habitats and war always brings to my mind what is currently one of the best wildlife refuges on the planet....the DMZ between North and South Korea :ugeek:

Yes! I've read that it's know as an "involuntary park or Preserve". This is somewhat like what Wildlands Network wants to create in North America. You can check them out here:
