Holy balls. i walked in this morning and have been sweating since... This is gonna get ugly if someone doesn't fix this shit. And the worst part, is that my boss is working from home, so it's not like he can tell everyone to leave if conditions get too bad...
I hope you all take a moment today while reasing this to appreciate the air conditiong you are currently sitting in. You don't realize how much you appreciate something until it's gone.

This seems to happen at my girlfriend's work fairly reguarly...
My personal policy is, no A/C = working from home. And i've let my boss know that... however I am in a 47 floor building (and am yet to experience no A/C), and live in Houston, where it regularly reaches 100+ in the summer...
I'd just be sitting at my desk in a puddle of my own sweat without A/C on...
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.0 -

Yeah super bummer when it's hot at work, we too are experiencing this.
Our new office has yet to have the air installed in the back warehouse.
We are waiting on the landlord, JB went out and bought more fans
and we're working the heck out of the front office air conditioner.
Not looking forward to seeing the next electric bill...
it will be in the thousands... ouch!0 -

83??? How will you manage?
Actually, I'm just kidding around, it does suck. But think of the people working in foundries, etc. Lots of laces with no AC all the time and extra heat from the processes.hippiemom = goodness0 -

Amen to your last part. Our AC at home went out a few years ago during a major heat wave - and we get the eastern/southern sun, so the inside temp was way beyond the outside...like well over 100.FrankieG wrote:Holy balls. i walked in this morning and have been sweating since... That shit can literally make you sick (and it did).
Hope you can keep cool and that your boss mans up - he doesn't have to feel the heat himself to be able to tell others to get out of the kitchen!0 -
Ugh. I remember back in the video store I worked in, summers were awful. No air conditioning whatsoever, only one fan. We'd get about 36 degrees Celsius, easy. (That's around 96-97 F, if I'm not mistaken.)
And it was definitely not light office work. Worst times were evening shifts on the weekends, with a lot of customers, a lot of returns to process, shelves to refill and you're there alone. Friggin' hell.
We finally got a working air conditioner towards the end of the last summer I worked there, right as the heat was dying down. Took a lot of complaining to make that happen, too. The store manager was a wimp and didn't really stick to his guns properly and the big-wigs just told us they were looking into it and to keep drinking water.
I'm just glad that our work t-shirts were black.

.... Yup. Even more privelages when you have VPN access... although there is also drawbacks (i.e. being expected to keep up if you're out sick....)eMMI wrote:Ugh. Take some comfort in the fact that if both the "big-wigs" and manager stayed with the video rental company, they're all most likely now (a) out of a job and (b) broke and penniless... :fp:Houston, Texas... Air Conditioning

Try working construction in the dead of summer renovating existing buildings. The sun is beating through the glass windows all day. All A/C and all air movement for that matter stops so they can re-route the ductwork, re-pipe the condensor piping etc. The most we get is a few fans moving hot air around.
Toughen up

I'm afraid not. :P Them shops are still doing pretty well. But that's fine by me, really, having just last weekend rented two films from my ex-workplace.
