    N.I.B.

Now I have you with me, under my power
Our love grows stronger now with every hour
Look into my eyes, you will see who I am
My name is Lucifer, please take my hand
Had my eyes peeled both wide open, and I got a glimpse
Of my innocence... got back my inner sense...

Start with the greatest hits album I would say. We have an FYE here and you can usually find it used for 5 or 6 bucks on disc.

I respectfully disagree. I would recommend these two (which are their first two albums).

    Black Sabbath
    Paranoid

I hear you. Just can't go wrong with a greatest hits album when you want to dip your toe into something new or you don't have,

  • My mum has the original album on vinyl and I remember playing it when I was a kid. The first track along with the album cover created such a fuckin' great atmosphere. Best opening track to an album in the history of rock.

The rain, the church bell, that opening riff

Awesome, awesome band. Back in the day, my dad skipped school to see Sabbath in NYC on their very first US tour- pretty amazing!

It's a Black Sabbath night in the Bender household this evening.
  • I ordered their first 3 albums from Amazon last week.
    Waiting...patiently.
I haven't heard the first and third. Only samples.

  • Found Sabbath as a teenager, (Heaven and Hell), but have to say Sabotage was the best for me. I can still listen to this anytime. The whole 'electric sound' to the album is brilliant.

Ozzy's albums were all great apart from Never Say Die, and most of Volume 4.

If seen as a 'come back' album with RJD, then Heaven and Hell was pretty classy.

    Good luck and enjoy.......

Their third, "Master of Reality", is a classic album. Very doomy, and dark... more so than the two albums before it. Enjoy, it's a superb yet simply album.

It was a huge influence on the grunge era bands. Can't wait to listen to it.

That is pretty damn cool! One show I would see if I could go back in time for is a Sabbath show in the 70's.

Just started appreciating this band (at least everything up to and including Mob Rules --- Dio rules too!). It's Alright is a great tune (knew the song through Guns n Roses, didn't know it was a Sabbath song and esp. didn't know that Bill Ward sung it).

Better than I was expecting but it didn't set the world on fire. I thought the single was awful but the album is worth a listen if nothing else. They were never gonna create anything close to their classics but this album hasn't brought any shame on them or their name. I have tickets to see them in December, can't wait :D

Took me 4 or 5 listens, but I really like it. Probably nothing on par with songs like Children of the Grave or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, but most of the record after repeated listenings is pretty darn close, IMO. Damaged Soul is my personal favorite.
