I'd have to agree, while falling fast enough to break the sound barrier it's hard to imagine a parashout working at that speed without ripping the guy in half.

I'd like to know more about his equipment too.
One would think you would need some sort of STAGED parachute deployment ... the first one simply being tiny enough to add significant drag but not rip his organs out of his chest ???
Also would be concerned about loss of consciousness (g-forces)
and inability to respond quick enough to stop myself from falling before the ground does it for me.
