its one of the few albums i could have playing around and around in my car stereo for weeks, and NEVER get bored of hearing it. a masterpiece in my eyes. so imperfect, but perfect if you know what i mean.

The first album I ever actively listened to! It was my dad and his best friends favourite album and they used to play it all the time my mum wouldn't let me listen to it though as I was only about 5 at the time hahaha I used to steal the cd and sneak on in the cd player down in the garage
Still remains one of my favourite albums. So much badass

Such a great record, probably one of the most powerful of all time in the sense it made Guns N Roses legends. This was the only reason they got in the hall of fame and were anointed America's next great rock band of all time, the next Stones, etc; all off of one record. But it was a powerful record.

Personally I love One In a Million from Lies

And Use Your Illusion II is pretty solid.

Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that it's 25 years old today.

I remember getting the tape (!) and seeing that machine rape scene on the inside cover. I can't believe, as an 11 year old, I was allowed to get Appetite. At the time, it was awesome. Now, as a parent, I'd have reservations letting my 11 year old listen to Appetite.

Honestly though, the subject of the material went well over my head at the time. I just thought "Welcome To The Jungle" was a kick ass song.

Not from Appetite but I've always thought Civil War would fit PJ nicely.

One of the first pieces of music I owned was Appetite on cassette tape. My dad gave it to me in 1994 when I was 2 (along with Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy by The Who...I have a pretty awesome dad!) and we used to sing along to it in his car and at home ALL the time while my mom would just roll her eyes at us. We'd pretend we were Axl and Slash, too (he'd put a bandanna on me like Axl and we'd run across the living room like lunatics) Sweet Child O' Mine is "our" song, too :) Terrific album, can't say much more than that! Holds a lot of great memories for me.

We are a good vintage. 8-)

I really love this album, I used to listen to it all the time. (Probably ten or so years ago.) Appetite for Destruction and Queen.

I should really dig it out again.

One of the greatest debut albums of all time!! Takes me back to the Sunset Strip back in the mid to late 80's. I played the entire album this morning and it still is as awesome today as it was back then. Perfectly imperfect!!

Cheers everyone and have a great weekend!!

I always felt it was kinda frontloaded. Think About You, You're Crazy, and Anything Goes are throwaways and the bridge on My Michelle is a fail in an otherwise kickass song. Not sure there's a better album side than side A(G) though.

Give me a bit more diversity a'la UYI's. There's a few on there that suffer from "this one is alot like that one" syndrome on there, but there's not much I would throw away outside of My World.

My absolute all-time favorite album! I bought the tape shortly after it came out and listened to it non-stop. Even today it probably has some of the most plays in my iTunes library short of PJ.
  • It was on sale for 7.99 on I tunes this week so I grabbed it. I had it on cassette but never upgraded to cd. I hadn't heard it since '95 or so. I forgot how great an album it was.

LOVE the album, but those guys were one of the biggest waste of talents ever in Rock and Roll, it's a real shame.......

I always thought the slow-down version on "Lies" was far superior.

By far the better version....Lies is fantastic. Used to lover her, you're crazy, one in a million....all great and at the time, GNR playing acoustic was outside the box making it that much cooler.
