So I know where I stand on Obama, Romney, and Paul but the Green Party, and Jill Stein in particular, are not very familiar to me. However, I like to look into all the candidates before making my final decision and I really align with this party in several ways. However, many of you are far smarter than I, and I was hoping some of you could poke some holes into the platform for me. I've included a link to her speech in January (I believe) that basically outlines her platform for the presidency.

For instance, her platform for a Full Employment Program details a way to create 16 million jobs. 8 million will be directly created through federal funds (where do we get the money for that?) but locally controlled (can we really do that?) I'm a teacher and supposedly, we have local control but get federal funding. I can tell you that without a doubt, there is only the tiniest bit of local control. Pretty much everything I have to do is controlled by No Child Left Behind (we didn't qualify for Race to the Top). 8 million will be indirectly created in the private sector because of an upsurge in spending because people will have jobs because of the first part of her plan. Now, she also mentions a change to unemployment in which you get a job instead of a check (or at least that's the way I read it). You basically would get a job in the public sector as a teacher or working on local infrastructure projects etc. that will be created from this federal fund. Of course, these jobs would be left up (in theory?) to the local community to decide upon based on local needs. I'm not an economics expert, so anybody want to poke away at this? :D
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

I AM MINE
