Their offensive and defensive stats this season are nearly identical in almost every category.  Maybe I'm off here, but I would put the Giants as one of the 5-6 teams with a similar fan base as the Cubs, in terms of numbers.  That would tell me it was fans of other teams that got Contreras voted in.

Or they embarrass themselves a la KB. I just hope it doesnt fo anything to hurt their swings. Especially if Baez wins it, I am afraid it will really go to his head and he will regain his trend (past trend) of swinging at every pitch for a home run. Thinking of the silly images of him trying to take one of those "its Baez, pitch it low and 2' outside balls" and trying to pull it down the left field line. You know the type. 

I really just hope this doesnt turn him back into that Baez. Otherwise, I am good with it. A Cub/Cub final would be badass. Or a Cub/future Cub final....but that's a different story...lol.

I was watching the ESPN game center.  Thought the same thing.  Veteran players eat Kyle for breakfast.  They just sit on that backup changeup and tee off.  He's at 52 pitches through 2 innings.  WTF?!

Cards fans got their wish......Matheny fired.  I didn't have much of an opinion of him as a manager one way or another, except I thought he was a smug dick.  Don't know why he was fired though.  I thought the BFIB were smart enough to realize they just weren't that good.

Finally the Cubs open up the gates first today and never look back! We need MORE games like that.

And hey, what’s that? Best record in he NL at the break and a 2.5 game lead over the Milfuckee Blewers. I’ll take that! (Big ups to the Buccos on that 5-game sweep!!)

And as I posted in the MLB thread only two players in ML history have had 18 HR, 18 2B, 18 SB, & 5 3B at the break - Willie Mays and Javier Baez!

Baez is really coming into his own.  The talent has always been there.  It's seems as though he's finally comfortable, and I'm glad he's on our side.  He's such a fun player to watch.  Javy The Jet El Mago Baez.  

Nice being up 2.5 games than down like we were last year.  This team still hasn't hit on all cylinders.  If they do, this is a team that can go back to the world series.

Good weekend for the Cubs for sure! I only wish the Padres would have scored first today. It's always great when the opposition scores first. Dyer completely loses his shit. Mother F's the team, then that coaxes them back to life where they end up winning. It's like clockwork...and it's awesome!
