To release or not release...that's the question...

I say release...

and I have to ask..."what's he hiding?"

    Honestly I say, who cares?

I believe the tax return release is one of the stupidest things about an election. And it take the eyes/minds off of the actual issues.

that is the truth though...people constantly think it is a hiding something issue...I think he should release everyone he has on record...there is no reason not to...

Hell, they might as well make them release all their wedding photos and movie ticket stubs while they are at it.

Is it common for politicians to release their tax returns? On the one hand I can see how it might keep them honest, on the other it seems like an invasion of privacy. This one puzzles me.

Yes, very common. People complain about it almost every election. I still have never been told a purpose that I thought made any sense.

no one is forcing them to, I just think they should...disarms the conspiracy before it starts...Thats the only reason I think they should do it...But they should not be forced to...

I would love to see Mitts wedding photos...I bet that was one hell of a party...

it is a public office they are running for, so yeah, release them. show the skeptics that you are legal and on the up and up. his dad released over 20 years worth, so why can't he do at least 5 or so?

there are rumors that he did not pay any taxes in at least one year, so of course he is not going to release that information.

i saw an article yesterday where people close to the campaign said "if he knew the tax return issue was going to be such a big deal he would never have run".

my thought is that he will have more political damage if he releases them than if he doesn't, and that is a risk he seems all too willing to take.

Interesting. But I still did not see it say anyone close to his campaign are saying any of that. In fact I read this...

"Rumors on what unknown people who Mitt Romney may not have ever met muse about what someone else, also unknown, told them should not justify a story."

I think he should just release his birth certificate ;)

    the real issues.

He just might be able to turn this crap around. Lord knows our President hasn't.

What do we have to lose right ?... it's a crap shoot literally

I really still hate to think President O will be a one term guy though. I did not vote for him but
he's grown on me, I like him and wasn't the only other one term pres, Carter, so long ago now.
He deserves more but I don't think he can make a difference.

I still wish Miss Condi was Romney's running mate
I would have a clear choice then...

    She's the bomb! Can I use the b word here ;) :P

you've taken 2 shots at me today. way to contribute

i would not have posted that i read it if i hadn't read it.

i misspoke. it was an article written by pawlenty's daughter that said people at bain said he would never have run had he known he would have to produce his tax records. not his campaign staff.

i am in between patients and and can not search for it right now, which is why i pointed you to google... you can "step your game up" can't you?

Hahaha, when taking a shot at someone, expect them to shoot back. I asked you where the the article was so I could read it...silly me. I should take whatever you type as gospel, even though I'm not a christian.

Not to mention, love this... "i would not have posted that i read it if i hadn't read it." then "i misspoke." Apparently you would.

It gets really tiresome around here when people post something, especially a quote and then tell you to go to google for THEIR sources. jeez.

Roberts pressed: "Why not show that, then?" and inferred that people could "move on" if her husband released his returns.

Romney responded, "Because there are so many things that will be open again for more attack... and that's really, that's just the answer. And we've given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation and about how we live our life.

so according to ms antoinette, there are things in their tax returns that will be attacked :fp:

    um...ok :?

I think it is important for a national leader to reveal his tax returns....important to see where some of his/her wealth is invested, and important to see what charities he/she supports. It could also reveal "secret" children the person may claim as exemptions.
