http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/850170 ... untry-song

A California man has been accused of shooting his 50-year-old son because he did not like his country karaoke singing.

A judge has ordered 70-year-old William Henry Oller to stand trial on attempted murder and assault charges in the January shooting, The Record Searchlight of Redding reported on Wednesday.

Oller is accused of shooting his 50-year-old son, William Carr Oller at the son's home.

The newspaper says the son suffered a wound to the arm and other injuries.

The name of the song alleged to have sparked the shooting remained a mystery.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

Real country music or the pop music that today masquerades as country music? Well both I guess, though I enjoy a lot of the music that real old school country music influenced, like Meat Puppets, Neil Young, Richard Buckner, etc...

Well we know there was much more going on there...

We watched one of those Time music thingys where they sell the collections
last Saturday evening, actually with a couple cocktails we watched a few...

R & B Soul mix, Rock and Roll 50's 60's and Country from the same era.

We found we knew the words to most of the songs from that time period
being little kids, even the country songs which we thought were pop played on
the local radio. Seems a lot of cross over even back then.

But yes I like country, I appreciate all music, some moves me more than others,
    but music is a gift.

I don't hate country music. However, I do despise karaoke to an almost unhealthy degree.
So, this is justifiable to me and I will promptly make a donation to this man's defense fund.
    Peace, Love.

I really can't take listening for country music unless Im around family...
And I can only stand that because I realize that sometimes i must suffer for them to enjoy it...

But otherwise, turn it off... (I would rather listen to silence than country...)

So it was the singing/song and not country music itself?

Anyway, I'm neither a fan nor hater of the genre...some of it's pretty good, depending on the musician(s). They're all tied together to me anyway - blues, country, rock n roll.

HATE country music. Except for old school like Cash.

There is an excellent all you can eat Mongolian Grill near where I live. Usually it's super busy and loud so I've never heard the music they play there. Last time I went, they had just opened, and as soon as I sat down they started blasting country music. :x :x :x

I inhaled my food in 3 songs and left. I would have stayed for another plate if the music wasn't so terrible.
(I would have rather listened to Lady Gag, rap/hip hop, classical, polka, rave, electronica...ANYTHING-even a screaming baby instead of country)

depends hugely on what kinda country you be jammin it up with

i grew up out in the middle of alfalfa, corn, & soybean fields & woods
country folk are the best people around
    city slickers? forget about it

lots of country (music) drives me batshit nuts
lots country (music) frickin rocks ass

    again...
ya gotta play the right stuff
ya gotta find the outlaw country stuff to play

    country livin is best
    & endorced by me

but also just because one lives back in the sticks someplace does not mean they don't frickin rock n' roll.
the best home stereos are found out in the woods someplace where it can be cranked up at all hours without fear of the law being called, cars & trucks out stuck in the muddy fields, guns goin off, hog in the ground roasting, beer on ice (for those who drink), picnic tables covered in hard liquor & grub

we have endless miles of gravel & dirt roads
    we have rolling hills
we have rivers & creeks tied together like brothers and sisters
row after row of corn & beans
and it smells like cow & hog shit pretty much all the time... and horse shit too

me? i'm pickin berries for mom's homemade pies & jams or over at the fishin hole or makin out with a country beauty rollin in the hay  hours & hours of kissing these girls ... it's pretty all right being a country boy

I hate pop country that you see all over the tv and radio. I only listen to zac brown band(huge pj fans), Keith Urban(writes some great songs), Darius Rucker, Eric Church(sorta the badass of country) and of course Cash

There certainly is a line in the sand that seperates good & not so good.

I can't get down with the Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw type of country. Some Waylon or Willie? I'm down.
