again i did a search... and i found zero thread(s) on heat advisories. so here is one now ;)

anyone else boiling over?
we're under a heat advisory until tomorrow @ 10pm
high today was 102f/38.8c
currently 94f/34.4c

is this hot in the celsius regions of the world? australians probably are like, dude, you're a wiener

    We have a heat advisory here and also a warning out about very severe thrunderstomrs that may cause a lot of people to lose power. No AC equals no fun. :fp:

    We had a heat advisory yesterday as well....it was 106 where I was. Flipping radunkalous.

    Can you include your location too when discussing this :) I am off on my hols to the USA on 2nd august and following all this with interest......all dying of the heat here today.....its 23 centigrade.......ireland to the usa ....i'm thinking its going to be a big shock to the system :)

    We had a heat advisory yesterday. The high was 98 F and we lost power for 5 hours.

    Air Quality Alerts all week long.
    10am and its 89F - Heat Index 100F - Dew Point 77F - Humidity 68%
    Supposed to get some badass thunderstorms tonight.
    On the news last night, they said we average about 18 days a year at 90F and above
    Today is day 18 - we've got at least 2 months of peak summer to go
    Its bloody balls hot out.
    Just walking from the house to the car, your basically drenched in sweat.
    My a/c has been cranking non-stop for the last week. Essential piece of equipment right there.

    very hot here, I went for a short walk at lunch and it feels like death. we have a heat advisory plus severe thunderstorm watch all day. hopefully the storms mean that cooler air is pushing through

    Honestly, I never knew such a thing as a heat advisory existed. I don't think I can remember one here. Flood warnings - yes, ice warnings - yes.

    Maybe they have them in the south of the UK?

    *sigh*... I miss the heat.

    106 is a tad warm yes...but anything between 90 and 100 is just awesome. Seriously, I'd trade our crappy weather here for it any day - it's par for the course in an Aussie west coast summer. I miss it. Bring on 3 weeks in the heat of the USA in exactly two weeks time!!! Yay! Oh, and as for the original question, yes, heat advisories are fairly common in summer in Australia. :)

    thing that sux about the heat here is that its never a dry heat
    if its in the 90s its guaranteed to be humid as shit
    which makes the heat unbearable unless you are able to swim

    Not a very warm summer here, sadly. Reaching the lower twenties on occasion, that's about it. I do like a nice warm summer. Not necessarily hotter than +27 though. :P (Got to the 30s some summers, that's a bit much.) If I wanna be reeeeeeally warm, I'll just go to a sauna. :mrgreen:

    We were yesterday but its a lot cooler today...

    There is a guy with a blue bucket hat that loves running in this weather though...

    (perosnally...I don't think he's right....in the head)

    That right there sounds pretty close to a near perfect summer day for me. Now I'll grant you that most of you over in the US tolerate cold much much better than most of us here in Australia....BUT....you guys are such wimps about the heat!!! ;) it's ok though...most people over here in the not sunny state of Victoria would be whining and complaining too! It's only the Western Australians that can cope with that kind of heat as par for the course!
