The venue is right in the middle of a residential area so there is a strict curfew of 10:30 due to the noise. If this is ignored then they run the risk of being unable to host the festival next year. Bruce played for over 3 hours and had plenty of time to wrap up the show properly and within the time allocated. It sucks but due to the location of the event it had to be done.

    I realize that...but 11 o'clock doesn't seem unreasonable...imo.

It might do if you have kids and you want to put them to bed at a reasonable hour or if you need an early night because you have to get up for work etc.

Bottom line they knew the score, they had plenty of time, played for over 3 hours and still went past curfew. No one to blame but themselves. A lot of organisation and concessions have to be put in place to hold an event in the area where Hyde Park is. It's not some field in the middle of nowhere or an arena, it's in the centre of a major city.
  • 11 o'clock on a weekend isn't unreasonable in a major city. They wouldn't have pulled the power if it was in Central Park. I highly doubt another 5-10 minutes would have run any risk of them not being able to have the show there in the future, it's Paul McCartney after all. Just fine them for the overtime and get on with it, everyone wins. :P

A lot of outdoor venues have a curfew. Here in Cincinnati OH it's 11:00 pm and every minute the 'talent' goes over they get fined $1000.00 per minute. I've been a stagehand for six years and never seen an act get "silenced". I wish a bunch would have though!

Funny as hell - I think they'll get over it. My daughter said 'maybe they enjoyed being treated like normal people held to the rules'.

or maybe the festival is in a neighborhood with yuppie wankers who can't handle a rock concert going over curfew for a bit. wow so they went over curfew, big whoop. The Boss is known to do that, it's no secret. Hard Rock Organizers knew full well The Boss goes over the time limit. The organizers shoulda made a deal with the residents in the neighborhood and say hey one of our acts might go over curfew a bit, he's agreed to pay for any damage. The Boss and Sir Paul i'm sure woulda paid the fine. this coulda gone down as one of the most iconic concert moments ever and it was ruined all cause of a strict curfew. :fp: :(
