Funny.
Though we all know that Obama's plan to boost the fortunes of the working man were all blocked at every turn by the Republicans, who feared a slight increase in the taxes of the ultra-rich.
"we all know". Eh?
You must be talking about the 99%

But but,.. Those billionaires are JOB CREATORS who just need a few more billion dollars before they create jobs.
We better give them more money and stuff.

glad to see you back Byrnzie...for reals...having said that,
Which plans were those to boost the fortunes of the working man that were blocked?
anyway, back on topic, I always tear up a bit at stories like this. So many people I have known didn't get to have the last day that people dream about...nice to see it happen once in a while.

For the second time in 10 days, the Senate on Thursday rejected Democratic efforts to take up a jobs bill championed by President Obama.
The vote to advance the bill was 50 to 50. Democrats needed 60 votes to overcome a Republican filibuster.
This time, the bill was narrowed to provide $35 billion to state and local governments to prevent layoffs of teachers, police officers and firefighters. To offset the cost, the bill would impose a surtax of 0.5 percent, starting in 2013, on income in excess of $1 million.

'Republicans in the Senate Thursday dealt President Barack Obama the third in a string of defeats on his stimulus-style jobs agenda, blocking a $60 billion measure for building and repairing infrastructure like roads and rail lines.
Supporters of the failed measure said it would have created tens of thousands of construction jobs and lifted the still-struggling economy. But Republicans unanimously opposed it for its tax surcharge on the wealthy..'
I can pay someone to dig a hole, and another to fill it in...is that good policy in the long run?...jobs and the inflation caused by massive spending bills actually taxes the working poor more than anyone else.

The Republicans have blocked every single bill Obama put forward to fix the economy. Including one which would have provided provided '$35 billion to state and local governments to prevent layoffs of teachers, police officers and firefighters', by adding a 0.5% tax increase on millionaires.
Let's face it, the Republicans don't want Obama to fix the economy and provide jobs for the working class, and middle class. That way they get to make him look bad, and it gives them their only chance of winning the next election. In the meantime the country can go to hell. But then Republicans have never given two shits about the average American anyway. As long as they get to continue lining their own greedy pockets, and those of their rich buddies in the 1%, then the rest of America can sink.
Why not simply give everyone a million dollars?

Or why don't we just ask questions that have no relevance to anything at all?
