Fanviews - can we get a bit more explanation?

I know you're all excited and stuff but we've got the setlist on the first post. I want to hear more about what happened! Enough with the expletives and the exclamation points and the shout out to other members and the repeating the songs.

I want to know what happened.
What was said?
How were songs introduced?
What song did Ed fall in?
Did you do the "yeah"s at the end of Alive?
When did Ed let the crowd take a verse?
Who got tamborines?
What's this deal about a wig?

etc. etc.

The setlists are great but these are fanviews for everyone to understand the flow of the evening and enjoy. At least, it's my personal opinion that it shouldn't be a place where everyone who went to the concert posts over and over how great it was. I understand there is a need for that, but we need a few willing writers to capture the moment.

Anyone with me?

mentioned the troops with a couple of songs.

I think the thing with the wig is that Theo was probably not suppose to be there since the Red Sox were playing in town. He is know for costumes so just an extention of that. It was funny I thought.

Ed mentioned donating money to a homeless place for Boston area kids. And that Theo doubled the donation.

Kinda gave me the impression that this was the last time in Boston for a long time. I know there is the rest of the tour but it felt like more than that to me. Just my opinion but that's what I got from it.

Mike McCreedy running around the stage was AWESOME. Just running circles!!!!!!!!!!! He has been on FIRE all 3 times I have seen him. Just incredible.

Loved Stone and Jeff trading places for Smile. That was nice. It was also cool that Stone put the wig on after Theo and like the hair didn't move. He was like shaking his head trying to get it do anything. Funny.

I think he fell during Alive. He fell pretty hard too. I have already commented on that somewhere else.

There were a lot of beers that I drank over the course of the last 2 days so I have to say my memory is a little cloudy. But honestly I feel like I got my ass kicked! Either that or I am just feeling my age :-( NAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope this helps a little bit more....

Eddie took a nap in between Black and Alive, he was just kinda laying there on the stage floor for a minute. Theo sat at the lightboard before going to the stage. I assume he had the disguise on because its Boston and he woulda been recognized and people woulda been like OMG Theo Epstein!! Nothing was said before they dropped the Leash, which made it even sicker. At the end Ed threw his tambourines behind his head and crossed them over. It was pretty cool looking. All night was a Boston love fest and how much they loved playing in Boston and what not. It was an amazing time.

Eddie letting the crowd sing the chorus during one of the sections of Evenflow was classic. When he tugged at his shirt like he was being led away by his hand during the "gently lead him away, lead him away, him away" part that the crowd sang, I was cracking up.

I thought the band playing Leash might generate more uncontrollable random posting in "Boston II Fanviews Here".

But I agree with you about Boston II Fanviews, this is the one we especially need detail and true feelings relayed to us.

So far I’ve been spoiled from the other cities Fanviews. They’ve been so great to read, so rich. Although there are a couple of great teases so far in Bostone II.

Do you think the reminder post “What’s a Fanview?” (The one I was using after the “Fanviews Here” thread starter) is a good reminder to keep on in all future Fanview threads?

    Please post your opinion, edwho

Thank you so much to everyone who responded. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Now if we could just more of this in the stickied fanviews for upcoming dates.

    Thanks everybody!

Well I've heard people flame you for posting the guidelines. I don't think it's out of line at all. It's a good reminder what the threads should be for. Anyway, I just wish there was a bit more good writing mixed in with the obligatory - AWESOMES.

The whole band was in high spirits.

I've never seen Ed smiling so much throughout a whole show.

The Rearview Mirror ending section was just INSANE. The strobe lights, Mike up on the amp, the whole band just building and building while the energy in the place went through the roof. It was the most intense RVM ending I have ever witnessed. I mean jaw droppingly intense. The crowd ate it up.

Leash without an intro speech and without so much as even a nod afterwards was perfect. It was like "Here, you got it, let's move on". For some reason Jeff looked larger than life during it. Hard to explain. He was yelling "Drop the leash" into the mic and just looked like a separate entity. My buddy who was sitting towards the back of the first section said "Leash was hysterical to see because the first 40 rows on the floor went apesh*t and everyone else was like "oh, cool, Leash"" Too funny.

Mike was CRAZY all night. Over the top in every way and it was perfect.

Stone wasn't super animated, but he was smiling a lot and you could tell he was digging it.

God I hope they release a DVD of this show. It was perfect.

Yay! See you all get it.

Jeff does seem larger than life lately. Stone smiling means he's into it. You know what I mean?

Thank you all - spread the love.

Maybe we could do a Message Pit rewrite of our “Fanview Guidelines.”

Anyone else up to this? Do you think we should?

    Here’s my original “Fanview Guidelines:”

    What’s a Fanview?

A FanView is an exclusive Message Pit thread for fans that attend a concert and want to share their experience with fans that could not.

Does a FanView need to be certain length?

No, your FanView can be one word “AWESOME,” a few lines or a short story.

What if I’m not a great speller or the best at grammar?

Don’t worry about this, do the best you can. The Grammar Police take a holiday for these types of threads. Trust me, I speak from experience.

I have a couple incredibly interesting comments on the show -- but I wasn’t there -- should I go ahead and post them here anyway?

No, this thread is reserved for the lucky fans that attend the concert.

I need to ask a question about the concert -- but I wasn’t there. Should I ask it here?

No, I’m trying for pure Fanviews from the fans who were there.

Are you a Ten Club member? Consider posting your member number and seat location with your Fanview.

A FanView can include but is not limited to such things as your description of Pearl Jams set, the opening bands set, what it took or how you got to the show, how was the pre-party, what did you do after the show, how did you feel?

Here are some great ideas from Joanne:

    What was said?

What's this deal about a wig?

The setlists are great but these are fanviews for everyone to understand the flow of the evening and enjoy.

    So my questions are:

Does the Fanview thread need guidelines?

I like the pure Fanview type thread?
    or
I like the anything goes Fanview thread?

If you agree the Fanview thread should be accompanied by some kind of guideline; Rewrite the guidelines and post your ideas here.

    If you just plain think the Fanviews thread should be an open house type thread;
I’d like to know that as well.

Thanks for your help, edwho / Mark
