Been listening to both of these albums quite a bit over the last couple of days and I'm starting to realize that I can't pick a favorite. They're both amazing. Just wanted to see what everyone else thinks.

It's tough, but Tommy takes it.

Love them both but Quadrophenia sneaks it for me.

That's hard!! For me it depends, sometimes it's Tommy and sometimes its Quadro. On a Quadrophenia kick right now so for the moment it edges out Tommy.

Quadrophenia has me by the balls right now and Tommy has yet to trip my trigger.

BBC had a Quadrophenia themed evening last night, showing "Can You See The Real Me?" a new doc where Pete Townshend reflects on the album, followed by the Quadrophenia movie and then by the Who's live set from the Electric Proms, London 2006.

Hope to watch the doc and live show later...

Like Quadrophenia a lot, the movie was one of the first "X" films that I got to see at the cinema, but overall I still prefer Tommy.

Also hard for me to say but I love them both in different ways. Quad just blows me away, it's so brilliant. Seems like I discover something new every time I listen to it, even after all these years.

Tommy was the first Who album I bought. I was 14 and got it the week it was released. It was SO much a part of my high school and college years. In some ways hearing it is like putting on comfortable old clothes. But I love the music too and Sparks is one of my favorite Who songs.

Also looking forward to seeing the new Quad documentary. It will be playing in a lot of theaters on July 26 only. I should start a thread about it, I guess.

Kind of off topic, but I just finished watching the Tanglewood concert from 1970 on youtube. Might be as good as Leeds.

Watched the Quad doc last night, it is really very good! I won't spoil things for those of you still waiting to see it, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

There's a great quality 'Quad show' recorded at The Spectrum, Philadelphia 4-12-73 that's well worth seeking out. Should still be quite freely available to download.

Tanglewood is another great show, I have it on DVD in pretty good quality. 1970 was a great year for The Who!

It will come back to you when you play those songs. I could never forget them. I am more familiar (like memorized the whole thing) with Tommy, than Quad, so I'd go with Tommy.

On the topic, it's awesome that The Who are doing a Quadrophenia tour, but it sucks major ass that they aren't making a SLC stop. I'd love to see The Who again.

They're skipping a lot of locations they usually hit, including Washington, Oregon, the Bay Area and (most importantly, from my perspective  ) Texas. Stay tuned and see if other dates are added.

I definitely will. I will certainly consider Denver if they don't announce a SLC show. Denver is in February which gives me ample time to make some plans.

I saw them in 2006 here in SLC and it was a fantastic show. Hoping they enjoyed it as much as the audience did and will return...

Quadrophenia for me. When I first started listening to the Who in the 80s, I saw the movie, and listened to the album over and over one summer when I first saw the Who (1980).

I remember seeing the Tommy soundtrack at a friend's house...his older brother was a fan...the whole notion of the movie freaked me out!
