We're going this year. Went back in '07 and had a great time so we're bringing our son this year...he's finally old enough for a festival. So many great bands, great food and a great city!! Have an awesome time
2006: Boston I, Camden II
2007: Chicago
2008: Hartford, Mansfield I & II, EV Boston
2009: Philly III & IV
2010: Boston
2011: PJ20
2012: Philly
2013: Worcester I & II, Brooklyn I & II
The posters do have a tendency to be on the pretentious side but there's definitely some good info to be found here. Don't be intimidated by their comments.
Lolla is probably one of the best run fests in the US and Chicago has a TON of stuff to do... be it shopping (Magnificent Mile), culture (Museum of Natural History), sports (Wrigley Field), or the shitload of bars/clubs/restaurants, I'm sure you'll find something to do while you're there.
Only 2 weeks to go! Have a great trip!!

so just over a week to go....anyone have any hints or tips?? On either lolla or chicago?
Bring water with you, because concession prices are insane! So is parking. Take the CTA (public transportation) as often as you can. Lolla is fun, I've gone the past few years and I had a blast.
It's right downtown, so there's a ton of stuff around...it's right on the lake, Navy Pier and all the touristy stuff isn't far away, there's the Sears (Willis) Tower, Art Institute, museums and everything right there.
Oh, and while you're in town, stop and have a pizza at Lou Malnati's, Gino's East or Giordano's. Cause that's what we do best.

you can get a great spot on the hills on the right side of the big stage, right near the vips
but the grass can be muddy and the canadian geese like it over there-get a tarp you can thrown away after the fest ends
