i remember watching it when i was younger & liking it. it's a funny little story. whenever the re-runs are on, i find myself watching those as well. if it's a good deal, i'd say buy the boxset.
    I LOVE MUSIC.

  • Yeah Northern Exposure is a great watch. It's not laugh out loud funny but it's amusing, slightly odd and can be quite deep at times. I can't think of anything to compare it to. If it's a good price then go for it.

Would Due South be a good comparison?? I loved that show and I was suggested Northern Exposure after buying Due South Boxset

I remember seeing it quite a bit when I was younger. It wasn't laugh riot funny, but it was entertaining. It's more known for being strange and kind of off-beat than laugh-out-loud funny. I'd say it's sort of in the same vein as a Wes Anderson film.

  • The last two seasons or so were bad. I bought the complete set few years ago. Overall it was worth watching

The best series to come out of America ever.Very quirky with such depth.Strong story lines, great memorable characters and scenery that will soar your soul.
I have the boxed DVD set and still very much enjoy it.I'd recommend you buy it too.

thanks for this.. did the show have canned audience laughter or is it like Scrubs where there is no laughter added to the show?

No laughter. Not that kind of show.
  • You can pick up a second hand copy of season 1 on amazon for about £5 so maybe try that before taking the plunge. It's worth giving a go. Some great moments from that show.

Agree! Absolutely nothing canned about this show. It's drama not comedy, but the natural comedy of life is well represented.Definitely nothing like Due South, best to just watch a few episodes of Northern Exposure then decide if it's your thing.
I never missed an episode and visited the town of Roslyn where it was filmed while I was in Seattle.Cicely is fictional but Roslyn is a living breathing town with a resident Moose, that was how he became part of the titles,he was a very real wild Moose who strolled through the town daily :D

Kind of like a 'happy' Twin Peaks imo. Remote location, odd and colorful characters.... I wish it was on Netflix streaming....

Never watched it but I've been to the town it was filmed in. The locals wouldn't shut up about it.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
