Nat Geo star and punk poet Henry Rollins hits the campaign trail this fall for a two-month tour hitting all 50 state capitals – starting September 6 at Hawaiian Brian’s in Honolulu, HI – and wrapping up on the eve of the Presidential election at the 9:30 Club in the nation’s capital.
Titled Capitalism, Henry’s latest talking tour offers not so much a voting guide as an outside viewpoint – and an unflinching quest for truth that’s sadly lacking in the profit-driven American mass media.
“I will be performing across our fine nation, doing shows in the capital city of each state. We will be going all the way up to election eve,” he says. “It's always a great time to be in America, but this will be the highpoint of this year's tour. Shepard Fairey did a great poster for the tour to make it extra noteworthy. I can't wait to start this one.”
On Capitalism, Henry will continue to dish anecdotes gleaned and perspective gained from the road less traveled – sharing experiences that include recent visits to North Korea, Mongolia, Bhutan, Vietnam, India, Tibet, Sudan, Uganda, Haiti and Cuba. And in the spirit of the season, of course, expect both pointed commentary and wry observations about the American democratic process as it unfolds.
Tickets for all Capitalism shows go on sale Friday, June 29.
This tour follows the just-concluded run of Canadian dates for his current tour (The Long March) with two weeks of European dates in July and August, including stops at the Wacken Festival in Wacken, Germany and the OFF Festival in Katowice, Poland. If you have the opportunity, go.
First saw his Spoken Word shows in the early 90's,have barely missed a tour in Scotland since. The man is a legend!
There is no excuse needed to be found not to go.

true... cause its not like you can dance to what hes saying.
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
the bigger concern would be whether or not your boys can sit still for 3 hours
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
Definitely something to consider.
Also, I'm not sure if the content, even the comedic stuff, will entertain an 8 and 10 year old.

I wouldn't take anyone under 16 to see Henry's show. Not because of colourful language, his shows in the UK always have an age restriction.
The first number of times I saw him it was an over 21's show, then over the years over 18,then over 16 and his show I saw at the beginning of this year,as well as the one I will see in August is over 14's.I doubt he will reduce the age further than that.
This is an adult show, with adult topics,he doesn't use inappropriate language,it's not Henry's style, anyone who knows the way he presents himself would know this, there are many political references, references to very old music, cinema, authors.
I would very much doubt it would be a show that young children would get or appreciate. Not saying your children wouldn't behave but I'd be very pissed of if I was at show and there were young children in the audience who were bored and moaning, there is nothing more irritating when at a show than kids who don't want to be there.Jeez I've seen adults at Henry's show moan about not wanting to be there because it wasn't what they expected.
I'd get a sitter and go and enjoy and evening of hearing Henry's take on the world.
I have had those cds for nearly 10 years now and they get an airing at least three times a year. Go and see him whenever he tours your area , you will learn something and laugh your ass off in the process.
And he replies to your emails, they may not be the longest replies but he has always answered any questions I've fired at him.

I wouldn't - it is not the language issue (you might hear a fuck once or twice, no biggie), but in general it is adult topics regarding politics, society, world travel and encounters in other countries, with some music stories too. I love going to Henry's shows (seen him in Utica, Albany, Montrealx2, and Ottawa) but it is in general just not of interest to kids that young IMO. They may not understand half the stuff he talks about. Now if it was Pearl Jam go for it - I'm not against taking youngers to shows (my daughter saw her first PJ show at 8), just don't think Henry would be their thing.

Like everyone else mentioned, taking kids to spoken word is not only extremely boring for them but it's over their heads. Get a sitter and enjoy the night out!
Looking forward to seeing Rollins, looks like a great tour.

Huh? Mine were $32.50 a ticket with fees... must be the venue setting the prices...
The show itself is very cool but the extra which is a tale about him and Iggy Pop is worth the price 10 times over. very funny indeed.
Also the Talking from the box dvd (shot in the early 90's) is excellent. Cool story about Bun Bun the rabbit.
There are some on youtube you can watch but Luna Park, Provoked and Shock and Awe are all good. I'm not sure how many dvds he has as most of the material I have are audio.

Ms. dc went to the SLC show with a couple of girlfriends and said it was great. Not as political as she thought it was going to be given the tour name.
Also, $15? Tickets for the SLC show were I think around $35, so you're getting a deal.
