I thought everyone did not think J Guitar was a very good song. Glad to see some like it. That is what is unique about PJ. The are strickly a rock band and they still have songs with diverse opinions from their fans in their catalogue. This is pretty unique. Most bands have songs which most fans agree on whether good or bad. Pearl Jam has always had songs which quite a few fans will not agree and even argue on whether a certain song is great or aweful. Like Johnny Guitar, The Fixer, Last Kiss, etc ...even the new song Lightning Bolt does nothing for me, most people are really excited about it.

...for me, I think musically Johnny Guitar is not strong enough to be a PJ song. I know Stone and Matt wrote the song, but it would feel musically more at home on a Stone solo record or even on an Ed solo record if he would ever do a 'proper' solo record (i.e. not a soundtrack or ukelele). Just a straight ahead rock/folk record. Lyrically, the idea from which Ed wrote the song is interesting and unique, but I think he fails in the delivery. I don't know if it is because of his writing, or if 'Johnny Guitar" is just not an interesting enough subject to carry the song. That is all I got.

just not into this song at all, can't listen to it, I created my own version of Backspacer with Of The Earth replacing it and when Pearl Jam radio plays it I switch to a different channel

Do you like Unthought Known? Nothing more boring in the PJ catalogue in my opinion.
have you listened to Unthought Known in an enhanced state of mind? I respond more to how a song sounds stoned, I use to do a lot of LSD and shrooms, and that is my background, now it is just ganja, so I like more psychedelic classic rock stuff, but I do really like the harder stuff as well, UK is fantastic stoned, actually most of Backspacer is, and I could live without Just Breathe or The Fixer, but 8 out of 11 ain't bad

im in agreement but surprised johnny guitar gets the axe. I really dig this song and along with force of nature and gonna see my friend are the top 3 of backspacer. My one issue with j.g. is I wish the guitar jam was extended at the end of it

Great tune! Nice to have some pretty simple lyrics and see Eddie having some fun plus I think its pretty catchy and fun to sing along with.
Along with Gonna See My Friend, Got Some, Unthought Known and the rest of the album
I had it all once I gave it back
