Well I guess Ed really likes Italy.

Back in the nineties he even said he seriously considered movig here (I guess he then didn't cause we don't see too many good waves around here;)).

He also said that he read on an Italian newspaper that Italy was a like a second homeland for PJ and that, even if usually newspaper are wrong, this time they got it right...

Eddie was so sweet trying to speak Italian and so proud to tell us he had reserved for us a special set list, which he hoped we liked.

Would you mind telling the non italian speakers a bit more about what he said while reading his paper? It was nice seeing him speaking italian but oh so frustrating to not understand!
    thank you ;)

At the beginning he said that there are many war right now in the world, Iraq, Liban and so they had decided to play songs about war and the set list of the show would be a bit different and he wished that we like it.
Then, in the 1st encore, after Black, he looked at the many flags that there was in the crowd and said something like: "is beautiful to see so many flags tonight, all together: Norway, Italy, France etc...but this one is for you" (as he pointed to one guy with an egyptian flag).....and then they started with Tremor Christ!
That's what i remember...what a fantastic night, it was my first Pearl Jam concert!
  • At the end he had a bottle of wine in his hand, and asked the crowd if we wanted some wine!
  • Me and 4 friends went from England to see it, reading only wetted our apatite. Was so worth the effort.

Really ace show, the mosh was hardcore and I got the bruises to prove it :D

At the beginning he also said that he wanted to have a toast to their first concert in turin, and that, given the new town and new location (the palaisozaki was built last year for the olimpic games), they had prepared a special set-list, which they hoped we liked.

You may also know about the little Italian speach he made in Milan (it's on youtube) when he dedicated picture in a frame to "the love of his life and the mother of his child, Olivia, which he met six years ago in Milan". So sweet for him to say.... and also a bit strange for his character.

  • Hi there!
I'm one of those lucky Italians who saw the show in Torino and I just registered to say how beautiful it was to stand there and sing Jeremy and Parachutes out loud... and all the other songs of course but... It seemed to me that they performed those two just for me :P
It was even better than the show I saw in Milano in 2000... and I thought that nothing could be better than that!

Everything has been said about the fantastic show of tuesday but I can assure you that it was extremely exciting when he said: "Vi assicuro che non passeranno altri sei anni" (meaning that they won't let another six years pass before they'll come back to Italy)... that was sooooo comforting...

    That is now blonde ;)

Great gig... managed to get front barrier in front of Mike when he came around the foldbacks... got some great pics from there :)... Crowd was really good over that side, only real moshing was towards the centre - we spent the whole gig without getting shoved in the back once!

Oh, and Eddie doesn't know what a Welsh flag is... he looked at it for a good ten seconds when he was calling them out and looked a bit confused before calling out Denmark (really Norway)... So for Pistoia we wrote Welsh Flag with a big arrow on it ;)... he noticed it that time! (Got a little wave!)

My only downer was the organisation of the 10C line... we ended up stealing barriers to create our own, as everyone was just milling around (Someone employ D2D as official GA line organiser!!), which took the piss when some people had been there since the wee small hours (we got there around 11am). On the good side of the queueing system props to the Welsh paper hat brigade! ;) , and our friendly neighbourhood bouncer from New York (sorry, i forgot your name)
...London Doesn't Call Anymore... (rip joe)

Yes, I have been to some Pearl Jam concerts. Several of them.
  • this was a GREAT show!
first of all, this was the show i was a total klutz, fell down some steps and seriously fecked my left knee up badly, in total pain...but still held onto the rail the whole show. by far the most respectful crowd of all the italian shows. i had a huge italian guy right behind me, totally respectful...unlike milan where i felt literally molested....this guy said 'scuzie' if he so much as brushed up against me....and also protected me thru the entire show...so really eased my pain and made it taht much more enjoyable. hearing every track off the new album was very special, and just a great vibe all the way round. i seriously could not get enough of the italians singing along at every show. :)

evolutionary - you know it. ;) i'd keep all that organized/safe/happy. :D haha.
oh, and that was anthony. never met him until then, but you betcha...great bouncer. ha. it was a serious cluster fuck there to be sure, definite downer that the 10c queues continually got ungly....but c'est la vie......in the end, all worked out, just would be a nicer journey with a bit more organization and cooperation.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow

  • hi!
I was in Torino after PJ show in Bologna. It was great. Listening to a live version of "come back" and "inside job" has been amazing. Unespected "tremor christ", great "RVM"...and again Black. There aren't enough words to describe how good I feel after the concerts.
How long do I have to wait to see them again??? It's never enough!
