    A WORD ON THE RHINO

although this is a great bar, as pearl jam fans a backstory is in order.

My great friend and a long time dedicated bartender at the rhino was told he could not have the night off when pj played the yield tour, even though the entire town was dead during the show and my friend worked the pre show and had his coworker cover the show hours, he went to the show and then ran back to work to beat the post show crowd.

    They fired him.

One of the hardest working and honest people I know. He still won't drink there, and I support him.

You don't need 50 beers on tap to have a blast, there are much better bars.

    Same owner btw...

Just thought you might want to know.
 Not sure I want to be the first to respond, but... this sounds like an issue between a boss and his employee. If I bailed in the middle of a shift back in my bartending days to see a concert after my boss told me I had to work, I'd be fired too. We can't expect everyone on the planet to bow down to Pearl Jam fandom, or every boss to let their staff go just because PJ is in town... but that's just my feeling on the issue.

That sucks your friend got fired though... I guess he shouldn't have walked out on his shift. Maybe he should have faked sick and got a doctors note or something. But hopefully the show was worth it! :D

    Yes it is.

i see you were able to find the pre-party thread...it's funny there are more name on the FB page than on the 'Official' pre-party thread here.

Yeah, WAY more! Maybe OP could update the list here by consulting fb? Otherwise, this thread makes it look like the smallest party of all time to new visitors to the thread. :)

I'll look into it, I'm not sure if people on the FB page are club members?

Dorky side of me wants everyone to wear a badge with their 10c name on so we know who we are...I missed talking to people I have had hours of conversation with on the boards at MIA because I didn't know what they looked like :( - don't all start telling why not, I know it's dorky!

No matter what...I'm so excited for the whole weekend....can't wait to see everyone xxx

Oh yeah, good point. I just assumed they were, but who knows.

As for name tags - I'm a dork too. :)

I have thought the same thing, dorky or not! Or, everyone wear neon yellow so we spot each other. Mustaches came in handy at Alpine Valley ;)

  • 'm getting so psyched as it's almost upon us! Hey why don't we also use this place to party and meet up on Friday and Saturday nights too. I know a lot of fans will miss the pre-party on Sunday in choosing to line up and wait out for the GA let-in. I think I'll stop by The Rhino each night and look to meet up with the good PJ peeps.

Hey, does anyone at the Rhino know there will be 120 people coming? I think someone mentioned a long time ago that they'd warn them... did that happen? :)

I thought Downski was giving the local venue the heads up but that was pages ago/a month or so and may have been the union club?

My inner dork also say lets embrace the name tags or some identifying system so no one gets missed.

Do you guys see the party list on FB /duck

I don't like nametags...I wore one @ Hemingway's...nobody cared or was all "Hey! it's RKCNDY!"

    I got "who are you?"
