I've done it a couple of times now.

Upload your new avatar in the Acct Info Section.... exit to the forum.
Now log out of the forums completely.
Now clear all of your computers cookies/cache in your Computers Browser history.
    Now restart your computer.

Next time you log on you should have the new avatar.
And so you see, I have come to doubt

24 hours later, and it's unchanged.....

when uploading the pic, does it have to be 100x100 or something? in the past, the software auto resized for you

or do the powers that be love mine so much the don't want it changed.

I cant understand why it's not working for you. What is the size of the pic you want to use? If its really big, resize it to a respectable number, like 150x150.

Dude, I got Windows. I downloaded GIMP, and I'm using paint.
    They want pixels or ratio

I'll figure it out in a few days. I H8 conversions. To go from 24 KB to 2MB? That's a flipin Shrinky Dink.

You can use paint. Resize the pic using the ratio and check to see what the properties of the picture are each time until you get down to a respectable number.

  • I think the size of the avatars is 100x75. I am using irfan view for stuff like that. It's for free and really easy to handle.

OK... this is strange... on my CPU at home, I can see my changed avatar (photo of me with a beard, aviator glasses and the PJ Canada 2011 hat).

Now on my CPU at work my avatar is just the AMES kid with the American flag on his face...

Which of my avatars are YOU guys seeing on your computers?

Not understanding what the hell is going on ...

I see the one with the glasses. You have to delete the cookies (and maybe also the cache) in your browser and then restart it. Then you will see the new avatar.

Strange that I have to go through all that to see my own changed avatar when I can see others' changed avatars automatically and don't have to go through this rigamaroll... Ah well... problem sorta solved...
