YAH! If you're anywhere near and just have an inkling of introducing youself to an absolute WALL of three guitar sonic madness, check them out!!! BTS had slid under my radar for way too long 'til i saw 'em at a festival. Didn't know anything they played, but right off, the first track just grabbed my ass and kicked it hard! (Traces). And song after song was just powerhouse after powerhouse. Frontman Doug Martsch's riffs are just freakin' infectious, stuff just sticks in your head! Came away just stunned thinking, "My gawd, that's the music that's been playing in my head for 20 years now!!!"

Here's Time Trap from SXSW this year!

I'll be seeing them in Portland, ME 8/30. It will be my first show. A buddy of mine plays in a band from Asheville, NC and raves about their live show. Has played a few festivals with them too and says they are great guys!

Yeah! From all accounts, very down to earth dudes.... Best part is their roadies!!! Um, them! I was chatting Brett up while he's setting up his pedals in Napa in February! Doug will chat with nice folks that hang around afterwards as they break down....

Funny part of them setting up and tuning up is the transition from House Music to them! Doug was throwing very annoyed glances up at the sound boards wondering when they'd kill the music ... great lil section of them kinda riffin' off the jazzy house music!

And that's just half the fun, they pick some awesome venues to play!

Challenge Doug to a game of hoops; he won't be able to resist. Watch it though, he's a fouling machine!

    They played liar last night.
Great as always. I think 6 covers in total which was a bit much for me.

The first set was really good. They came out for the encore and did 4 covers to close out the show. It was cool but i was hoping for one or two more BtS songs at least.

They did play sludgefeast though so NO COMPLAINTS had my happy face on.

Although Doug did not take the solo..... slight disapointment there.

  • I didnt get Liar, but it was still a fucking great show. A 10-minute Going Against Your Mind is never a bad thing :P Really enjoyed the opening act "Genders" as well.

They just keep on going! Touring right through oct/nov and added five dates in Seattle and Portland for new years, whoa that's tempting!

Pretty solid year of touring, hopefully new drummer and bassist have picked up more of the repertoire by now, some glaring omissions from earlier this year. As fun as these small clubs are though, I really miss them over a huge festival PA, wish they'd open for pearl jam or someone! Fair trade off! 45 min set over a big PA!

Couldn't get a good mix of all three guitars no matter where I stood earlier this year.... So just went with Roth cheating toward middle and Doug....
