whats ur opinion on the best version of Rats from this years tour?
from the ones ive heard, i think the one from Albany is the best, almost perfect performance with Ed nearly comin in too early in the song.

ive heard the version from Las Vegas and East Rutherford and in both, Ed messes up the lyrics a bit.

I agree with Albany. I was there, and the crowd was in utter shock when they played it. Saw "Rats" a few other times, and the energy just didn't compare.
  • I agree with Albany.

Being there at ER2 though was amazing. Me and the guy next to me both said we needed to see RATS before the show, and when the drums started we looked at each other. Then the bass kicked in and we just went crazy.

I've only heard Boston, but I personally was a little disappointed with it. I love the song, but I didn't think Matt's drumming was that great for it (first and only time I've thought that about Matt's drumming). He just didn't give it a funky feel, and tried to play it to straight rock-y.

    true.
at first i didn't recognize it just by the drums,
but i just went completely nuts when jeff started playing the bass line.
    bloody fantastic moment.

haven't heard the albany version, but i'll take everyone's word for it...

  • i've heard both albany and east rutherford and here's the thing:

if you want the right lyrics then go with albany.

if you want the cool drum-intro then go with east rutherford.

i was at the east rutherford show so i go with it.

  • The first couple times Ed came in way too early with the first verse. Maybe it was ER but the one with the extended drum intro is as good as it gets from 2006, easily.

The best version was performed at the Gorge on 07/23. I wonder why they didn't play it at any other shows after.

I'm biased toward Albany because I was there. It was so surprising and we were so excited. ER2 was good too, but Albany sticks more in my mind because it was out of the blue and the first time in so long.
